Yes, while travelling around NZ camping. I was bitten by sand flies on my face while asleep. During the next day my face became swollen and I became feverish and unwell. I had to seek medical help and was advised to take antibiotics (Flucloxacillin 500mg ), which initially I refused to take as I have IBS, but as I was told my eyes and brain could become infected, endangering my sight etc., I took them. Within 2 days, the cellulitus cleared, but as warned, the antibiotics were vicious on my digestive system.
