Is the 2 rods down the back in the form of a spinal 'corset', they really do help in reminding us to bend correctly  ;)

Yes, although they are flexible bandagey things stuck to the muscles in the middle of the back. Flesh coloured. She says they come off without stinging!

Funny last night as it feels inflamed or irritated towards the end of the urethra, and pressure. I tried applying live yoghurt. I used a slightly out of date vanilla flavoured yoghurt, much to OH's total bemusement  ;D Not sure if it helped much but did make me laugh.

Just dug out my appointment notes, only to read with dismay that I was supposed to buy a measuring jug and do a 3 day diary of piddling before the appointment or as they say WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO YOUR TESTS.
So I'll ring in the morning at 9am and see if I should go to talk to them, or they want to re-arrange it.
I'd not read through the whole thing before as they sent me an appointment for a day I when I was away, so I rearranged for 3 month's time ie tomorrow. Oops.

I'd like to go and talk to them, but imagine they prefer to do all or nothing to avoid having to see a patient again.

And you were supposed to do what with the piddle?  Keep it in bottles that they should have supplied?  ::)

Give the appts desk a ring and ask ......... tell them you have lots of queries before you undergo any tests!

I was supposed to measure the output and flow in mls! To diagnose the plumbing fault.
I'll ring them. They may want to re-arrange it.  It's a 2 hour full assessment of bladder and pelvic floor.
3 or 4 different tests and an X ray.
Oooops.

I spoke to the clinic nurse and it's been put off. They say even if I'm in pain and discomfort, if the urine test is bacteria negative, then they insist on doing the full catheter tests, which often flares everything up but only way to diagnose. Their notes say this "frequently" causes "water infections" so drink a litre afterwards. There is no option just to go to discuss unless have full cystitis and on antibiotics. (My urine test came back yesterday as negative and I'm not taking the ABs).
They then gave me the choice, so I opted not to go.
There's a 2 week wait for another one, by which time hopefully I'll be feeling better. On with the D Mannose. She said no more than 1 - 1/2 L of non carbonated drinks a day and no citrus.

I've had cystitis type burning urethra on and off for years and the reason I had a cystoscopy was because I had blood in my urine but no infection.  I was told by the urologist that it was probably interstitial cystitis which is difficult to diagnose and treat. They said to come back if the local vaginal oestrogen didn't help.
After the cystoscopy I had to drink 2 litres of water to flush my system out to prevent infection.
I have tried cutting out caffeine, fruit juices and many there things that can trigger the burning but nothing seemed to make a difference.  I think my burning is due to vaginal atrophy and now having had the Estring in for a couple of months I am getting the odd good day when it doesn't burn.  The only real trigger for me seems to be getting very hot and I'm off full HRT and trying to look after my bones with lots of walking and gardening etc. I do get rather hot because I can't control my body temperature.
PRoblems with the waterworks is miserable but it's well worth getting help and once you've had the investigations they will hopefully give you good advice and about a way forward.  Not sure if you are using Vagifem or any other local oestrogen treatment but definitely ask about this at the clinic.  Since using the local vaginal oestrogen my lady bits have been sooo much better - not so dry and itchy so probably less prone to infection.
Just another tip; you may already know this but it's the bacteria from your bowel that usually causes infection so after you open your bowels do make sure you are really clean (sorry if this is tmi) -   DG x

Not TMI at all, it is important to wipe front to back ………..  ;)

Do you feel easier now you've spoken to the Clinic?

Thanks to you both x
Sunshine helps! I practice all the right hygiene etc as in my late 20s I had constant UTIs so a clinic gave me chapter and verse, including the only white cotton undies!
Well I'm glad I stayed home and got some sun.
I use vagifem every 3 nights and sometimes every other night. I'm sure it helps.
I did go for a short swim this afternoon and although my lhs back hurts, it was bliss. I did less than my usual.
Now all by myself in the communal garden (my wifi reaches from the flat  ;D) in the late afternoon sun. Much better.
