Has oestrodot been withdrawn?
« on: May 17, 2014, 06:56:59 AM »

Hi
I am currently without patches as no chemist seems to be able to get oestrodot!!! (Luckily I have oestrogel to try and keep me balanced for the time being).

Has anyone else had difficulty getting hold of them?

If so, can anyone else suggest an alternative patch (50mcg) other than femseven (rubbish at sticking as we know!)?

Thanks,

Have you asked the pharmacists why it's unavailable. They will have been told if it's because of a delay in manufacturing or whether it's been withdrawn. It's worth phoning around lots of them to get a good idea of the reasons. I can find nothing online that says it has been withdrawn so it may just be a hiccup somewhere along the line. This happened with Femseven a few weeks ago but supplies now seem to be readily available again.

Goes through phases like that 2cats. I remember having problems on various occasions with the 50 mcg ones. Been OK since I got 25mcg ones. Its a manufacturing issue, at least it was previously.

The other twice weekly ones are listed here (scroll down)

I doubt it would be withdrawn as it's the only tiny patch there is! Now and again I've had problems getting it but fortunately have never run out - I usually request it well before I do, just in case!

Thanks for the replies.

Juju - I will ask my chemist about ordering it in, thanks for the suggestion.

No chemist seems to have it and though I am using my oestrogel - I have been feeling really weepy the last couple of days....for no reason I can think of - just like the pre hrt old days!!
Do you think it's possible it could be because I haven't had a patch on since Tuesday am?

Maybe your body is adjusting to getting oestrogen from a different method of delivery - although I would have thought theoretically you should still be getting approximately the same level of oestrogen. The fact that you may be noticing the difference, could suggest you are not absorbing the same amount. As I don't use gel I can't advise here but as I said in my other post re equivalence of patch and gel, the size of area you spread it on is crucial because it needs to absorb before it dries, I understand.

Maybe alter how and where you are applying it?

Hopefully a gel user will be along to help!

2cats, I'd think it's likely you're not absorbing the gel so well. I had this problem before changing to estradot patches. I'd used the gel for many years, but eventually wasn't getting the same relief from flushing.

Thanks Hurdity - I made more of an effort to spread it out today instead of being slapdash!!  :)

Cubagirl - that's interesting to know it wasn't strong enough for you in the end - up to now, I've only used it as a top up patch if I felt I needed it, so have not had to rely on it soley to keep me sane...

Drs tomorrow so will hopefully get a different patch for time being.
Thanks for your help.

I have just read this forum and want to say thanks to everyone, I honestly thought I was so alone with this.  I have just been prescribed Vagifem as I have VA and a lot of scar tissue from botched childbirth.  Youve made me feel more positive already, I get so upset about this and really hate sex but love hubby so much!!

My pharmacist often has issues getting in Estradot, I was on 75 and that was always an issue , now on 100 and that seems to be always in stock,
