A skirt wearer
« on: May 14, 2014, 09:55:13 AM »

I just read the post about trousers and I was thinking - am I the only non-trouser-wearer here?   There must be others who would rather wear skirts.  I own one pair of trousers and one "slumpy" pair that I stick on when I need to completely relax.  I hate the feeling of my legs being encased from top to toe - it makes me feel all trussed up and even if I do put my trousers on, I just have to change back into a skirt after a while.  I've owned about three pairs of jeans in my entire life and even mostly stuck to skirts when I was a student.  When we were in France a couple of years ago, I could hardly find a skirt in the shops there for love nor money!   I don't understand this.  Who else is a skirt person out there??    There must be some people!

I don't own a skirt - only realised that last week when someone commented that I am always in trousers or jeans - but used to love wearing them when I was younger and more "waisted". I hate the feeling of tights or stockings and I definitely don't suit the bare leg look now that I am older. Skirts are very feminine though but they get in my way somehow.

Loved skirts when I was younger, but now trousers are the staple of my wardrobe. Got a ridiculous number of pairs. Think it's more to do with my body shape. Skirts make me look frumpy. But if you are a good shape & feel confident in them, that's fine.

I only wear skirts when it's warm enough to go with bare legs ( today first time this year), and sandals ....I cannot stand wearing tights and can only wear flat shoes...
So it's trousers in the Winter and skirts in the Summer for me  :)

I wear jeans, cut offs, leggings and shorts most of the time all year round, but also wear skirts (not long flappy ones at my age though - too frumpy!) and sometimes dresses summer and winter for certain occasions - bare legs, tights, boots anything and everything! Skirts are around knee length straight (eg denim) or full gathered and fitted from below waist flaring/gathered out from hips - more flattering style! Great compromise though are tunic type tops - I wear lots of these over leggings or skinny jeans of various colours, summer and winter. They are fitted where it matters and loose enough (long enough too) to cover  a multitude of sins!

Oh dear, I'm out of place on this topic, don't own a skirt and haven't for more years than I can remember.

I make an exception on holidays and will wear maxi dresses day or night (helps cover the horrible veins on my legs) lol.

def a jeans girl.

I don't possess a skirt. They just don't look right somehow. I have jeans, joggers, combat, dressy and downright slobby.
I like leggings and tunic tops too. I have problems with dresses as well. They have to be tailored or I look like a sack  ::).

Trousers for me.  I just don't feel right in a skirt - they never look right. I'm a big girl, but I have a waist - unless the fit of a skirt (or dress) is just right I look like a sack tied in the middle, or about 3 years pregnant!!!  With trousers, I can wear long tops that hide what needs to be hidden.

Hi Ladies,  I'm the same, have one black skirt for funerals... everything else is jeans, jeans and more jeans, these days in ever increasing sizes. If I wear a skirt I feel exposed.... hate tights, and showing my legs in any way is deffo out. Very wide calf muscles, chunky ankles and varicose veins... been a shop girl all my life, on my feet all the time and it shows. (dresses are out too) At only 5 foot 2in and being too short for my weight I need the streamlined look.....

I live in trousers most of the time now. I still have my work skirts hanging in the wardrobe, but they will probably find their way to the charity shop. I do wear sundresses if it is very hot and have a couple of posh dresses waiting for an airing.

I never feel right in a dress or skirt. If I wear them then it will be with opaque black tights and a long cardi. I have no waist and no bum so I always like a long cardi or tunic top to hide those bits. I feel too exposed with my legs out  ::)

I hate 'work' skirts. I hate suspenders, stockings, tights ……… I hate the feeling of tightness around my belly.  I hate the texture of tights ……… I hate shoes without socks, the sticking of feet to inside of shoes  :-\

I had one skirt in a deep green for funerals but that went to Charity a few weeks ago ……..

Good topic!

It has to be really really HOT for weeks before I even consider getting the maxi skirts out ……...

I don't wear skirts either, I never looked right in them, think it's because I've got a small waist and very definite hips so they never sat right. I wear dresses though fitted dresses look best on me. My staple every day wear are skinny jeans or trousers x

Oh well...........I live in knee-length, slightly flared skirts - soft, tailored or denim.
