I favour traditional myself.  Youngest GD ended up with a Celtic name, which I also like.

I wanted to be Miranda for a while; then Tracey; never the name I was given

It's the weird and wonderful that I don't like. They must get teased at school.

My two are fairly traditional.

I like 'normal' names, or names that are a little more unusual but unlikely to get children teased. 

My daughter had the short form of her name on her birth certificate, as I could see no reason for giving her the full version as I would never call her it!!  When she changed her name by deed-poll when her step-dad and I married (she wanted his surname as he's been her dad since she was 3), she extended her first name to the full version!!  She's always been unique!!!!

When my dad registered my birth he got the two first names mixed up consequently I have always been called by my middle name. It caused all sorts of confusion when I was at school. I now answer to both and have done for years.
Add to that a very unusual maiden name and I got a lot of teasing when I was wee.

I have spent my life either explaining the first two name thing and spelling my maiden name

My children all have traditional names.
I know 3 little girls whose names are Nancy, Olive & Pearl- sweet.

My son is called Thomas, still like it too

HB it was our minister who muddled my name at christening. He got road name we lived on muddled with my middle name. To top it off, he turned round & told my father that I should have been given full version of my name. Father nearly walked out of church without me being christened. He told minister of his reasons for naming me as they had, but minister totally disagreed. I am what I am!
