Hi
I have been on Femoston 2/10 for nearly three months.
It is only partially helping though, and I am left with negative psych symptoms and flushing which have been quite distressing. I was on Femoston 1/10 for three months, which reduced symtomb by about 20% and the 2/10 has reduced them by 50%
I have been taking magnesium citrate for a couple of weeks, which helped reduce symptoms even more, but I was still flushing too often for a comfy life.
The citrate is far better than the magnesium oxide for diarrhoea, provided you take it on an empty stomach and don't eat for an hour or so after, but I don't think the citrate was fully absorbing for me, personally, as I still got very hot smelly farts sometimes. (sorry to sound vulgar)
This suggested to me, that a lot of the magnesium was just going to my large bowel.
I am now taking magnesium malate, which absorbs much better and no smelly hot farts.
I also started taking a B complex vitamin this last few days.
Last night, I was able to sit in a crowded hot pub last night with my jumper, hoodie and coat on, and no flushes. I had taken a brisk walk of 10mins to get to the pub.
Vitamins and minerals are not designed to replace diet, and I do try to eat foods rich in vitamins, but I still had enough flushes to ruin some tops with sweat and feel hot in my upper body all the time.
Now, I feel normal, not a flush in sight, the only thing was, I had to turn on the heating as I could not get warm.
Not complaining, I am just glad to feel flush free again.
My mood is a lot calmer as well. I feel like I am on valium without all the horrible side effects.
Why not just change my HRT? because my doctor is not willing to give me the hrt I would have liked and says if this hrt doesnt work, I will just have to go through meno naturally.
Also, too much oestrogen can cause fibroids and other problems.
I am on the maximum dose already.
Vit B helps with oestrogen production and use, and I feel it is better than adding more oestrogen externally.
Why am I stilll getting flushes etc if I am on the max dose? I found out on here that HRT does not get rid of all symptoms for some women.
I am only 47years old and only in peri menopause, so I am a bit unsure if I should be taking even more oestrogen than max dose femoston at this stage.
