vagifem
« on: March 23, 2014, 09:55:45 AM »

Hi, has anyone found that vagifem stop working, or did I just have a dodgy batch. i check what was in them seemed the same. but just didn't seem to work. didn't seem to release any wetness that i usually experienced and just stuck on the wall like a really sticky glue and burned....  would it be worth giving them a rest and going on to ovestin for a bit. i found a different box and used that today, or am i just allergic now...

Aren't they designed to "stick on the wall" though hellen. If they don't stick then the oestrogen is not absorbed into your vaginal tissues. The burning isn't usual though. Did you put it right at the top of your vagina?

How long have you been using it for? It could be that the low dose isn't enough and after the initial two week loading you have not not a high enough dose to give you the lubrication you are used to.

Such a miserable condition but I'm sure someone will be along soon to advise.

You may need to use Vagifem more often - maybe 3 times a week - as it isn't very strong these days - it used to be much higher dose so many find the 10mg too little.  I found Vagifem burned anyway so have been trying other things - Ovestin and Gynest but both tend to burn - I think it's the fillers that irritate!  I'm currently using the Estring which gives a continuous small amount to oestrogen - only put it in 3 days ago so time will tell.
I'd try some vaginal moisturiser as well.

Hi, thanks for your thoughts I guess it could have become low in my system. I have been on every other day, though and was fine the day I used it and sore the next..   I did have a fortnight off at Christmas on docs advice, due to some no reason inflammation and very bad swelling..  never ever tried olive oil. and then went on the every other day regime..   I think I did put one up to far for my system and that gave me grief, so im careful not to do that again. I to have used the ring, and that was fine for a while, but then seem to give me lower stomach pain after the second ring.   but no didn't seem to burn.. I thought I had solved it,   and yes I think the other two ovestin and gynest burn to...  just a thing that concerns me how often do you ladies have a cancer smear test..  I have had flue or some sort of bug, and cough cough cough... I never realised how much coughing can move your vagina either lol. its seems a case of trail and error and go round in circles lol...
