Went back to gp today she upped the patch from 40mcg to 80mcg elleste solo I asked if I could have 50 but she said no they don't do them ,the pharmacist said they do but in another preparation so I hope this patch is not to high for me why could she not have give me 50 ? If this is to strong can I cut them in half would really be glad for some answers as Im new to patches.

Exactly right Anjia - your doc was right that they don't do Elleste solo in another dose but as your pharmacist says, there are several others that come in 50 mcg and 75 mcg (Estradot, Evorel, Femseven, Estraderm). They are all the same estrogen.
Here they are all listed - scroll down to non-tablet

Yes you can cut patches but it would be better to have the right dose to start with. You may notice side effects from increadsing suddenly but hopefully these will soon settle and you will end up feeling much better. I doubt you would feel the benefit from increasing just to 50 mcg though!

Oh I really hope I can start to get things right with this bloody HRT Hurdity the thing is I have it in my head to keep to the lowest dose and that is the fault of the first gp I asked about it a long time ago who told me it was my decision to have it but it really was not good for me in the long run so always keep to the least amount, then I had the hysterectomy and instead of getting better Im back to square one.
