I assumed the instructions would be on the label and they're not.

I'm taking oestrogel and utrogestan. I think he said take the gel for 15 days and then the progesterone for 11 - does that sound right? But that only adds up to 26 days. So do you have two days where you take nothing or is it continuous?

Not quite right!

Oestrogel every single day.  Utrogestan as prescribed ( this varies between drs and can be anywhere from 7 - 21 days in a month, or some women have 2-monthly cycles and take it according to what is prescribed.

If I was you I'd start with one pump per day of the Oestrogel - applied on clean skin on inner thighs or arms(I always massaged it into my inner thighs) - you will apply this gel every day without a break.  Use the Utrogestan for 11 days per month (taken before bedtime)as the dr recommended and after you stop the Utrogestan you should get a withdrawal bleed after a couple of days.
You can increase the amount of Oestrogel you use, if your symptoms are not improved, after the first month.  You can use up to 4 pumps per day but I never needed more than 2 pumps per day and that was post meno.  If you have any more questions do get back to us.

Yes, use Oestrogel every day. HRT is not the same as the Pill.  You need the oestrogen in a constant dose everyday.  You only use Utrogestan(progesterone) to induce a withdrawal bleed to protect your uterus.
If you are still peri menopausal your own hormones may still be fluctuating so meno symptoms may come and go a bit as well. As the Oestrogel keeps your oestrogen level constant it helps to reduce the meno symptoms that appear due to the lack of oestrogen.

I've had lots of IVF where you swap estrogen for progesterone but don't take together. Glad I checked.

Yes I use Utrogestan but not as prescribed! As Dancinggirl says - you normally take it for 11-12 days per month. I presume it is the 200 mg dose of Utrogestan you have been given and that the doc intended for you to have a cycle as you are not yet post-menopausal?

Hudity. yes that's right I'm perimenopausal.

How do you take yours?

I'm post-menopause age 60. I use Utrogestan vaginally 200 mg 12 days every 7 weeks which gives me a bleed - because I don't want to take it all the time.

I took progesterone vaginally when I had IVF but taking it orally this time much to my relief. Can't pretend I much liked the 'other' way

Oestrogel is used continuously and the Utrogestan is for 12 days per month, if you are on the 200mg, usually day 15 to 26 then a few days after you stop it, you will get a bleed, good luck, its a great combo!
