Hi Sally

 :welcomemm:

Can you give us a few more details about yourself. Age symptoms etc.

There is always someone around for a chat. It's rotten to have up . days when you feel great and then days that are terrible. Hormones have a lot to answer for.

If you can give us some information then maybe we can help.

Hi Sally

There are lots of women here going through the same things. There is always someone to talk to and offer advice when you need it. Hope you're feeling a bit better.

Hello..

Well I'm 48 and in the Peri stage... no hot flushes..occasional night sweats..taking regular supplements so that helps painful joints occasionally  but It's just the tiredness and the mood swings.. feeling down and weepy it's driving me mad  :( . My Husband is very supportive .. but we have a 4yr old daughter as well as older childs... I feel so bad for her... :'(

She'll survive!  Do her siblings help out with her?

How is your diet? Eating regularly can ease any PMT-like symptoms, help with mood changes and weepiness.  Have a read of the menus left of screen, browse round ……..

Have a talk with your Practice Nurse about how the Surgery deals with HRT etc..

You won't get back to how you were, it's 'the change'  ::) so learning to adjust can be difficult.  Make sure you have plenty of food that you can graze on, i.e. slow release like bananas; nibbling on fruits and nuts ……….. keep hydrated.  Some ladies find that cutting out stuff can help  :-\

Let us know how you get on!

Hi sallyh65.

My mum was 45ish when I was 4. Having me so late, I think kicked her into the menopause. Not that I knew that then. We both survived.

We need chocolate! It's the law.  ;D

Hi Sally, I'm new here too but already feel so supported by the other ladies since my 1st post today. I think it really helps to know others feel the same as you. I am crying so much, feeling like I can't cope at work, thought I was losing my mind. My GP prescribed anti depressants yesterday & I was so scared to try them but I think this site & the lovely ladies on here will help us both through this, thinking of you, good luck

Hi Sally,

:welcomemm: You will get lots of support here! We are all pretty much going through it! I have alot of ups and downs as well. Lately more downs it seems! :( Some days its a struggle to get out of bed and go to work. I have 2 kids at home (teens 12 & 14 :sigh:).i am not an emotional person usually but can't seem to hold back the tears. I also have felt supported since coming here and often just posting and chatting with others who understand makes a huge difference!

Hi tearful someone once said to me that every tear we had inside us had to be cried, so don't worry about holding them back - there are times I could cry buckets and often feel much better for doing so. Someone here mentioned singing I find if I sing loud out loud (I cannot sing in tune so use the word "sing" loosely) ;) I feel loads better!

I am new here to but found the information that is shared by others just unbelievable there is so much knowledge I have learnt so much.

Sally, you will get enormous help and support here as you go on your meno journey :)
All the best

Lubylou is right, when all else fails, singing, crying and I also dance (although my daughters maintain it's not a dance they know) all make you feel better!!cant vouch for chocolate as I'm diabetic, but wine is also good!!

HI sally

I was put on antidepressants five years ago. They didn't work for me. I thought all along it was hormonal. We know  our own bodies. I changed drs and now see a nurse whio s very good to talk to. I was put on venlafaxinel. it helped a at first. I couldnt take anymore feeling so down and emotional. It was wearing me down.thought I had pmdd. I decided to go back and see the nurse Iad a blood test to check my fsh but they are not very accurate. I  have been prescribed estrogen . Thought i would give it a try.

I have also been through a lot in those last five years which  I realise won.t have helped myones. My dad ws diagnosed with terminal cancer. My sister then got breast cancer. My mum died and my husband liost his job.

Also I've been eating every three hours which has helped. This was advised by a member.
I have also gone back to yoga which seems to be helping me too.

Ihave teenage daughters too who are hormonal. Don't know how my husband copes with us all. Suppose he is lucky to be a man!!, life is tough for us ladies.

You are not alone. There are lovely ladies on this site all in the same boat .

Hi Sally

Hope you're feeling somewhat better today.

Forums can be helpful for support and ideas and tips but please don't assume "things are only going to get worse".  You may not get a lot of the menopausal symptoms which you may have read about on here.  There are millions of post-menopausal women with lots of happiness and energy in their lives and you could well be one of them.
