are getting through UK Ports to the Continent without checks  >:( …….. P & O Ferries have refused lorries but of course, the drivers book onto a different carrier.  It is said that by May 2014 only racehorses and eventors will be 'allowed' free travel without checks ……… so I won't be travelling via the ferries!

I will try to avoid any UK Port that doesn't instigate regular checks on animal cargos ………..

How about human cargo.

I think some of the things that happen would shock us all. You may run out of choices CLKD because animals are smuggled in from all over the world. Ports, airports, ferry terminals. None of them can ever be 100% .

If money was injected into the 'system' .............  >:( but again, it is pet owners that are targetted because they are easy and honest <sigh>.  Pet Passports are essential in order to stop rabies and other nasties but these carriers make a mockery of the whole issue  :cuss: slaughter then carry would be better .........

It's the import of animals in inhumane conditions through every port in the land.

I don't think your average pet owner if they research the rules should have anything to worry about at all.

Human cargoes are much much worse.

Have you chosen your port then CLKD ?

I don't think that is free of problems either.

Take it you are headed for foreign shores this summer then.

:D  DH would like to go to Annency and I have an inkling to find someone my Dad met - twice - in the 1940s.  She was then about 11 years old and - long story short - is in touch with my Mum still.  Chamonix ………if DH said go now I would be there like a shot, it's the planning that causes my anxieties to rise  :'(
