I bought 1 15 years ago and never needed to use it. So when it didn't work we changed the battery. Bought another this morning and DH can't get that to work either
Do you prefer the 'strips' across the forehead or a solid thermometer?

Being an ex-nurse, I prefer the old fashioned glass thermometers you had to shake down! They can't go wrong as they work on the laws of physics (the liquid inside expands or contracts as it changes temperature). Can't buy them now - too dangerous!!

One might bite the tip off the glass and imbibe on the mercury!
What do you use?

I had a free strip thingy that came with a bottle of Calpol. Once the kids were grow up I never bothered and still haven't
I guess if I had to choose I would go in for the one in the ear type.
Don't really know why I would need one.

The in the ear ones are what are preferred nowadays. It's what they use in hospital.
I've got one which goes under your arm & beeps when "cooked".
It also changes colour if temp very high.

To be honest I would rather not know
Tend to go on the hand on the forehead. Very scientific don't you think.

Yep me too. God we are old
Can you imagine what health and safety would make of that.
I did use my elbow for the babies bath. They would probably put me in prison for that now.
Heaven help any future grandchildren. I would probably break them

We were watching a granny this morning with her grand-daughter, allowing her to crawl around a busy supermarket apparently oblivious to trolleys, wheelchairs, feed
………… I suppose that her children survived in order to give her a Grandchild

I don't use a thermometer at home at all - I go by other symptoms.
When my daughter was little I used my elbow in her bath. And when I was nursing, we did take baby's temps using glass rectal thermometers (the ends were blue, so you knew the difference) - it's all down to how you hold the baby! You know what - they all survived the experience undamaged (in ANY way!).
