Self cleaning showers - I wish!
« on: January 15, 2014, 09:58:53 AM »

That's what hubby thinks ours is! I burst out laughing when he said this. He was being serious though, he said the glass was self cleaning, because the water would clean off any shampoo etc. No, that'll be me cleaning it once a week & spraying with shower spray, when I actually remember.  He honestly thought that glass cleans itself. Got a PHD, but no common sense.  Now it would be a great thing if glass cleaned itself says I. I honestly thought he was taking the Mick. But he wasn't. Son & his GF were there at the time & were in stitches.  ;D

Oh bless him. What a daft thing to think. My lot think the whole house is self cleaning and that there is also a laundry fairy. That would be me  ;D

Guess what I am off to do.   Yep the shower. If your hubby ever discovers a self cleaning shower can you let me know as I hate this job and always end up wet  ;D

Oh you & me both HB.  ;D Can't believe my very intelligent hubby thought that. He's good at wind ups, but this wasn't a wind up.

Just goes to show, you can have all the brains, but absolutely zilch common sense. He & our daughter, who has 2 degrees, couldn't put an A frame swing together either. Her partner & I stood watching them in stitches until I eventually gave in & told them why it wouldn't go together.

I'd like self ironing clothes too.  ;D

There is self cleaning glass but that is for windows  ::)

I wrap a towel around me and put a squeezy down the panels once I've switched off the water.  Weekly I use a spray cleaner but have to be careful not to catch myself in the mist  ::)

Shower cabinets must be designed by men who know they will never have to clean them. Who in their right mind would design something that in order to clean it you have to stand in the flamin thing. Doors that slide back on each other, I ask you.

I always end up wet. I really need to strip off to do it properly.  >:(

Oh bless him, nice thought though :)  I use a shower spray daily and it has made an awful lot of difference :)

A squeezy would be good, however my doors are curved, so not squeezy friendly. What I tend to do is clean it when I'm wet after my shower, towel wrapped around me. I've only recently started using the spray, so hope it cuts down on the cleaning.

I use the daily spray too but it seems to build up eventually and then getting in and rubbing is required.
I do use a sort of bleachy spray and then leave for a while and just rinse.

Both of our showers are awkward. One is over a P shaped bath and I can't reach the top unless I am in the bath and the shower cabinet has a double sliding door.

As I said designed by men  ;D

That's so funny cubagirl! Men can be so clueless sometimes!

When we moved into our house the shower was filthy with buildup! I've tried and tried to get it off. Nothing has worked! Any ideas on how to clean years of buildup? My next resort is a torch!

I like the Flash with bleach spray. Spray on wet tiles and door and leave for a while. The Astonish white paste cleaner cleans most things without scratching.

I never use the shower as I prefer a quick bath. A year ago I decided that I would  no longer clean the shower as I never used it. I told the two men in my house, who use it every day, this and it has not been cleaned properly since. I try not to look at it. I am determined not to give in!

I find the dettol spray with bleach the best. I think I've tried them all.

You have a stronger will than me Taz. I would have to clean it otherwise it would slowly drive me nuts.
I always use the shower room and never the bathroom which is what my son uses. He would never think to clean it and if anyone is visiting that's the one they use so it has to be clean.
