High Blood pressure
« on: January 10, 2014, 07:41:14 PM »

Hi Ladies

I forgot to mention in my other thread, that I had my blood pressure taken yesterday and it was 160/90, which is high.
My doc said she wants to take it again in a month.
Will high blood pressure be a problem, or is mine only a little bit high?

Thanks

She might put you on BP tablets if it is still up next time. Plenty of people on here are on them as well as HRT (me included).

Mine is always high at the doctors! I am on bp mess and check readings often, usually 115/70 but every time I go to docs it's at least 150 over 85! It's the stress! Don't worry about it from just one reading

Hello again.

Lovely, that's what I wanted to hear.
Hopefully my BP will be lowered when I next see her.

I appreciate your replies.

Thank you :)

Dandelion - it is possible to help reduce your blood pressure with exercise - thirty minutes walking a day helps - and also reducing the salt in your food. When I checked how much salt was included in everyday things I was amazed - one small slice of granary bread contains 6% of you daily allowance and the amount in some breakfast cereals is horrifying!

White coat syndrome. I suffer with it. At home my BP is fine. I'm currently on a 3 week check of mine, surgery don't seem to believe in white coat syndrome. My pulse was too high last visit. Well waiting 30 mins past my appointment time didn't help.

I'm on BP meds, but watching my diet & increasing exercise does help.
