Surfing the storm waves
« on: January 09, 2014, 09:55:13 AM »

Some good shots here of extreme surfers tackling the waves over the past few days. Some may say they are mad but they do have back-up jet skis and are carefuly monitored. Great bunch of people http://magicseaweed.com/news/more-from-the-might-of-the-hercules-storm/5962/

That's what I thought until I met a few! Not mad after all . Totally planned and professional. I'm glad I'm not young enough to give it a go though! This guy has my total respect http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irMldd3sLnY  Think I am missing the sea!

I lived for 2 years in St Jean de Luz in the french Basque country, 10 mins away from this part of the sea,  and always hoped to see (not surf!) the Belharra wave first hand. Makes me homesick! It's just so beautiful there. You have the mountains and the sea right next to each other (why am I in London...wail  :o)
Believe this year's Belharra was up to 20m high.
Same video, slightly different angle
