Don't make resolutions, because I know I'll break them.

I'm not making any this year because I never stick to them! They usually revolve around losing weight and being more sociable ie inviting people round for meals, and going out more at weekends!! (Hope I'm not getting old and boring - but tend to go away more now and have started going to festivals!)

I was listening to a radio programme about New Year and resolutions and how this is one of the most depressing times of year for some. Looking back and being disappointed and looking forward and being despondent. Cheery stuff indeed...Not.
I just want to make the most of what I have. I remember last year and being totally determined to beat my anxiety and it hasn't happened yet so I am going to work with what I have through what will probably be another challenging year.
As you can all probably tell I am not a fan of New Year

It's said that new year resolutions seldom work because of the strain of getting over Xmas and new year parties, family stuff etc.
One year I resolved to quit smoking ..... Coming up for 10 years now ..... And with this in mind decided to quit on 1st February. It worked and I never looked back.

I'm going to improve my fitness
Take care of me more and pride in myself
Eat better
Exercise more
Not so much as new year resolution but take stock of my current status and get back to how I was

Just in general really. I seem to spend a lot of time grumbling away about stuff and you can forget that it is just good to be still alive! It was brought about by meeting up with a friend and neighbour this morning. She has been dealing with breast cancer for the past three years and thought she had beaten it but in September she was found to have secondaries in her bones. She is only 55 but so positive about spending what time she has left not moping but celebrating each day. Of course she is angry and sad at having to leave her wonderful husband and two grown up children but she really made me think. I don't suppose it will last long though - I will soon be back to moaning about the state of the house, garden, loss of libido, lack of money etc.!!

I was going to eat less sugar, I have just had a most delicious piece of Lemon Meringue Pie
I tell myself that I deserved it as starting to feel better after that nasty virus, but really I could not resist it
