Hi heavenlyblue - thanks for the update and glad you are feeling better. Re the progesterone - are you taking this orally or vaginally? Personally I would not want to do the alternate day thing with that dose of oestrogen and those levels because it could lead to breakthrough bleeding - but interesting idea from your specialist to try half the month on half the dose and the other half on double the dose.

The ongoing fatigue could be due to the daily utrogestan or the so far ineffectivenss of the testosterone. Do you have other symptoms like low libido or muscle pain etc especially after exercise?

How wonderful that your migraines have gone! That is one excellent result! Long may it last :)

Hi Hurdity, hope you are doing well :-)

The lab made a mistake with my oestrogen levels!

It said 434 pmol/L

It should have been  147 pmol/L

So that may explain my tiredness possibly.  I am still not getting enough oestrogen.  My doctor now wants me to up to 4 pumps a day.

My testosterone levels have hardly risen at all so she has told me to up my Testogel dose. Libido is more or less the same....as in practically non existent.

I am taking Utrogestan once a night, orally.  I may give it a go for one month, not taking it for two weeks, then doubling up for the next two weeks, just to see if I feel any different.

Can I ask you ladies about application of the Oestrogel?

I have been doing

One pump on each outer thigh
One pump on arm - elbow to shoulder

I have been rubbing it in so there is no tackiness.

Now I am starting 4 pumps,  I have also read to put it on inner thigh not outer (2 pumps in the morning and 2 at night) so no arms.

And not to rub it in, just to apply a thin layer and let it dry...?.confused...?..

Just want to check I am applying it correctly and on the correct parts of my body.

Thank you all xxx

hi heavenly blue

a very quick question has your regime of 3 pumps gel utrogestan and testogel did you start all 3 together ?

have you had any hair shedding on the regime x

thank you

Hi Sammiejane

I was on 2 pumps initially, with the daily oral Utrogestan and Testogel.  I had to get my blood pressure down before they would up me to 3 pumps.   I was on 2 pumps for around a month.

No hair shedding.  I have an awful lot of thick hair - could do with a bit of shedding...our hoover hides when it sees me!   ;D

Hi heavenly blue ... I use 4 pumps of gel and I put 2 pumps on each shoulder and outer arm every morning. There is no need to split the dose.
I use Utrogestan orally every night and I use Testogel or Tostran .

Your tiredness is probably due to low oestrogen . Did you feel exhausted before you started the Oestrogel? Exhaustion was one of my worst symptoms. If you felt exhausted before starting HRT then it is unlikely to be the Utrogestan causing it.

Once I was on the correct dose of oestrogen the exhaustion started to go. I've been on this regime for 2 years with no side effects and I'm doing well. X

Hi Dotty

I have quite slim arms - one pump takes ages to rub in.  If I did 2 on each arm I would be sliding out of the bathroom!

Yes I was exhausted before using Utrogestan.   I have just started with 4 pumps just wasn't there if it mattered where you put it and if you rubbed it in well or left it a little tacky.

heavenlyblue, I apply to my thighs and when I was on a bigger dose, all over my upper arms too. I rub it in until it feels just a bit tacky.

Thank you.  Because the last few weeks, my oestrogen level has only risen from 44 to 171 with 3 pumps, I just want to make sure I am putting it on the right bits of body and applying it properly.

Hi I have thin arms too, but I don't have a problem. Just apply it and it's dry within a few minutes. X

Decided to put do 2 x pumps on each leg (outer and inner thigh) - all 4 pumps in the morning.  See how I go.

I am so tired all of the time.  Really hope this extra pump of oestrogel and increasing my dose of Testogel is going to help.

Good luck with that hevanelyblue! Your tiredness may well be due to taking progesterone continuously as well as not enough oestrogen. Although some women are quite happy with this (Dotty  ;) ) others hate it and it gives a permanently sedating effect and fog-inducing, headaches etc. If you don't see an improvement within a few weeks I would look to going back onto a cycle maybe - although this does mean having a bleed :(. For some of us this is a lesser of evils...

I don't have those feelings either Sammiejane but there is ethanol in the delivery mechanism for the gel.  Sometimes the skin doesn't like alcohol and maybe that's what's giving you the "weird tight" feeling or the strange feeling on you legs?

Hi all, I'm after some advice please.
How many of you either get tested for your oestrogen, progesterone and/or testosterone levels, 2 help with ur HRT?
Also, how many of you see consultants,  menopause clinics etc?
I've just come back from GP, feel like I've been fobbed off yet again..ive been taking HRT since July last yr, still not got dose right, and Dr can't see the point in any tests or referrals.
.Ive asked for either Menopause Clinic or Gynae or Endocrinologist,  but she can't see how that will help.
I think I need to show that others get this on the Nhs if possible.thanks in advance.

Hi Winnie, I haven't had any blood tests for hormones either. I also wonder how to get them done. I'll watch to see what you are advised by the lovely ladies!!! x

I have never had any hormone tests done Winnie by my doctor or the clinic.  They have always gone by "controlling symptoms".  Its harder when you are in peri because your own hormones fluctuate so it is only a snapshot of the levels at the time the test was taken which may then dip much later in the day or the next day.  Doses are all trial and error cos the level and type that works for me will be completely different for you.

I was referred to an NHS meno clinic but only got one consultation.  The rest is done with my GP.
