All 4 pumps get slapped on my thighs in the morning - no pfaffing about - don't wait for it to dry, just rub it in and I'm done!  I have always done it like that.  My utrogestan on the 12 days is done at night vaginally.  I was quite surprised at how bad the cramps were on the first 2 months lessened by month 3.  I just took some paracetamol on months 3 and then they just went away.  Everyone is different and I know from reading the forum that it can take a while for things to settle but people get worried and scared because they don't really know how their body will react or really what to expectand they just stop or change and then have to start all over.  Like I said, it took a total of 7 months to feel ok more than 5 days in a row.
Personally I think the longer the body is "out of wack" sometimes the longer the hrt takes to settle.  It's just not the kind of thing that works really quickly to an optimum level - the body has to adjust and settle and bearing in mind the whole thing is based on a monthly cycle then that could take 3/4 or 5 months.  I mean that is only 3/4 or 5 times using utrogestan but when you say 3/4/5 months it sounds like ages but its only 2/4/5 x 12 days.  xx

Ohhh Ladybt.....i hope I havent been too hasty in stopping my gel  :'( but as you may recall Ive just.not felt great.not a smidge. What you said in prior post though about if hormones  have been oit of whack for so long (i truly think mine have) that it can take longer to get them settled. Ohhh! I just couldnt carry on as was...but I do know i will (or hope).benefit  sometime, someday. I just felt too lost and never felt as out of my depth as I have the last few months. I hope I havent unravelled too much 'good' work of taking estrogen the last 4 months espec if my body really needed it but nothing has felt a bit good so all hope was lost!  Im.an intelligent gal but seemed the more i tried to understand it and try to figure it out - the why maybes and the this is whats happening for now, etc'-  the more blurred it felt and the more seperated I felt from myself. That was hard for someone rather in tune with their body 'before' (hence me knowing something was amiss and i poss needed estrogen or testosterone etc and hence my starting  hrt with the gel and utro to start) so i could only.stop.in order to catch my breath again and find my feet again (not that they were firmly down anyway !!). Oh well, is what is for now, gp apt next week where Ill fill her in, and i may ask for some bloods all areas (i know not always reliable but still).and then..if I feel same, I may make an appt with dr louisa newson!

I really feel for you all, and with you all. Not sure what we would do without this forum!! X

Birdy

Yes thyroid tested and all other bloods normal my hair has been shedding for 10 months since November last year since starting hrt ! It had slowed after 6 months on the gel but now on the patch has got worse I wondered if it's cause I've shot up from 2 pumps to a 75 patch

Did the meno specialist confirm this samie - ie low estrogen? If so did  they say poss the reason for hair loss? Tru not to stress too much - easier said than done - we ALL know that.  Its a horrible situation isnt it and I feel yoir fears and concerns. We all do. Hopefully of low estro then levels will build and balance and it may settle. Sorry cant advise or give any real good comments but im also on the middle of this minefield! X

Hi, nice to hear someone has same questions as me! I am 63 and went to Meno clinic near me last Monday after my GP said no.....so have also just started (day 6 today) on 2 pumps of Estrogel and Urogestan 100mg (orally) every night. This seems to be a standard dose and how do you know if it suits you and how long do you give it??
I have not had HRT since 2012 (2 years after periods stopped) when I was on Indivina for a year and it was great.... then the GP at the time said I had to come off it, as shouldn't be on it for long. Wish I'd have stayed on it for longer knowing what I know now and all the nasty symptoms that have never gone away. One of the unlucky ones... :'(
BUT my hot flushes seem to have got worse since I started the new regime and feel a bit weird, dizzy and tired with aches in pelvic floor and tender labia, also palpitations. Some other nice ladies on here have suggested to give it 3 months and can take the Urogestan internally? The Dr at the Meno clinic never mentioned that?
I am hoping for a miracle when I can get my joie de vivre back!!
Hope you find it helps you and good luck with it!

I need advice regarding a period that has started (after a completely missed breakthrough bleed) 7 days into my utrogestan phase. Do I stop the tablets and allow the period to properly kick in or do I continue the Progesterone as normal and put up with bleeding (lightly) until the next break?

Hi Guys....

I was hoping I could ask your advice...

I'm taking Utrogestan 100 mg (oral capsules) and they really aren't agreeing with me. I feel really dizzy, spaced out, headaches...

I've read on this forum that you get less side effects if you take the tablets vaginally.

Looking at the box, it mentions that the soft capsules are for oral use only. Made by Besins healthcare. White box, blue design - with black writing. Can these capsules also be used vaginally??

I'm Peri just now. Started estrogel on 29/7/2019 and taking Utrogestan 100mg (oral tablets) daily from days 15 - 26 (of each 28 day cycle).

Many thanks xx

Yep you can use them vaginally.  For some reasons in the UK they are not "licensed" to be used that way but if you get them abroad then the besins leaflet explains how to use them vaginally.   I don't know why it is no the same in the uk
I use them vaginally and you use them in just the same way on the same dose...basically you push up the little capsules as far as they will go instead of swallowing them.   Way less side effects.  Some GP's haven't heard of doing it that way and freak out but my consultant is fine with it and so is my GP now I explained to her!   Great  isn't it having to educate our GP's who should know better  :-X

Am on 1 pump of oestrogel, currently on day 7 of my 12 days of Utrogestan 100mg, use every other month, try to push it as long as possible, the reason being, I have had chronic insomnia since starting the tablets, feeling jittery, palpitations, stomach bloated as if 6 months preggers... >:(
