Hi Pepperminty and Sheila,

Thanks for your replies.  The pharmacy can get them, so that’s a huge relief as I’ve been struggling with awful symptoms.

I’m hoping that I do well with the regime.

It should arrive in a couple of days.

Is it better to apply the Oestrogel in morning?  Are inner thighs a good site to apply?  Can I use Utrogestan capsule vaginally if I get side effects?

Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks very much for helping.

Yes, yes and yes though it's off license this way in the UK though not in the rest of Europe.

Please can someone tell me if this sounds right? I'm on day 9 of Oestrogel for peri symptoms and cyclical issues of depression and fatigue. My brain fog is much worse in the morning now. I feel totally horrible and like I can't focus on anything much. Insomnia still a problem. I definitely am in the last 10 days of my previous natural cycle so there hasn't been an improvement, if anything I feel worse - very bloated and gassy. Yesterday I felt nauseous. None of this feels like an improvement. I can't afford a private specialist and I'm wondering if I should wait until I can and just leave it for now. My FSH levels were apparently normal but I don't know about the other hormones. As I take SSRI perhaps that might affect it I just read on here... Ugh. Not the week I had hoped for...

Hi Alibeau, whilst in peri our own hormones can go up and down in the backgound also.  Try magnesium rich foods and breathing exercises also, as this may help.

Sometimes it is because we need more estrogen also. Or have you been using suncream or more moisturiser during the weather change which could effect absorption? Or have you been prescribed the other type of gel which some ladies don't find works so well. Liz Earle did a pod cast on this and there are threads here about it too.

Just some ideas incase .

Thank you Pepperminty  :thankyou:

I'm just at a point where I am feeling old before my time, aches and pains are creeping back in and I'm 'only' 49....  For the first time today I am wondering if I should look into paying to see someone privately so see if they have any ideas on how to get me back on track....

Ironinglady it's very early days yet, my insomnia and anxiety took 3 months to go. Can you tell us exactly what you're on? I'm a bit confused as you say day 9 gel but in the last 10 days of your cycle  so assuming you're on a sequi regime you should be taking progesterone too now?

Sorry @sheila99 I feel so sick and brain foggy I can’t even type!!! So this is month one and I started late into my natural pre existing cycle. Which means day 12 of the new cycle isn’t for another few days if you see what I mean. I was ignoring my own cycle and just starting oestrogel a bit late on the 1st of the month with the Ustrogen planned for the 12th I think? However I feel so sick, headachey and bloated that I don’t honestly have the heart to carry on as I feel so bad. Wondering if I should get all my bloods dont before I do anything else wjth a specialist.

Hi Ironing lady,

tell us a bit more. Your age, if you are peri meno, what were youpreviuos symtoms before HRT?  how much gel are you using? Have you taken the progesterone part yet?

The estrogen can make you feel sick and that is common when you start. Can you lower the dose ? Suck ginger sweets, as this can help along with small meals ( like morning sickness remedies) It will take at least 3 months for the body to adjust.

Morning all,

To recap: Was on HRT (Mirena/estrogel) for a few years - came off for 18 months - now trying Utrogestan/Estrogel.

After disliking taking Utrogestan orally, I've tried vaginally. The sluggish, tiredness side-effects have gone, for the most part - I don't like the 'mess' but I can live with it.

BUT, a quick question - I feel like I'm more irritable than usual. I mean, I'm no Pollyanna at the best of times, but I do feel more short-tempered.

Is that a 'thing?' Or am I imagining it?

Hello

I am hoping somebody can help me, I have been prescribed Utrogestan and oestrogen gel and the leaflet states to start rubbing in the gel on the first day of menstrual cycle.  This is my dilemma, my last period was 7 weeks ago and do not know when it is going to arrive therefore I have not used the gel yet.  Do I have to wait for my period? and if I do what if I do not have one again.  I hope that made sense. ::)

Hi,

My Oestrogel and Utrogestan have arrived today.

It’s for 2 pumps of Oestrogel daily and 200mg Utrogestan for 12 days per month.

Do I start the Utrogestan on day 15? I’m just confused that it’s 12 days, I thought it was two weeks?

Do I push the plunger all the way down when getting the pumps of Oestrogel?  GP only px one bottle? But I have three months worth of Utrogestan?  I’ll have to ask him for two more bottles?

I’m excited to be starting my HRT.  But, also a bit confused by how it’s been prescribed.

Could anyone help?

Thanks.

Hi

Newbie poster but a bit confused.

Am on Oestrogen and Utrogestan HRT - start a few months ago. The utrogestan bit has been a bit of a nightmare as initially my GP prescribed 200mg vaginal utrogestan used for fertility treatment which I used for 10 days but caused real carnage to my vaginal area - assume either allergic reaction or too much dosage.

Have eventually managed to get GP to prescribe the 100mg tablets but it has taken a long time and I have since had one natural heavy period. Was due to start the utro tonight but this morning have woken up to another period so have no clue what to do. Also have abdominal cramping and heaviness, urgency to urinate - even though am on antibiotics for existing UTI. All in all its a car crash plus I am petrified to take the utro because of all the horrors stories and the knowledge that I cannot take it vaginally to make it easier if needed.

So my question is - can I start the utro tonight even though my period has arrived ?

Many thanks

It's better to keep your own cycle in step with the hrt one so I would call this day 1 and take utro from day 15 as normal. The 200mg are the same as the 100mg except for the dose so there would be nothing wrong in taking the 200mg (I did for 3 years). It's just a bureaucracy problem that it's only licensed for ivf in the UK. I think you may have vaginal atrophy for which you will need to see your gp and get topical oestrogen. There are many posts on it if you search. Most people are absolutely fine on utro so the chances are you will be too.

Hi,

I would as Sheila99 says, get some local estrogen as this can be a sign of VA. I would ask for vagifem and 0.01% estriol cream to rub a little on the outside. This may help the UIT's. Also ask to be referred to a women's health physio, as you may have a tight and overactive pelvic floor.

Thanks for the replies. Will look to start the utro in  couple of weeks instead

With regard to the VA I already have Vagifem and estriol. Am fine with the Vagifem if I don't overdo it, estriol is a bit hit and miss so have to be very cautious otherwise it all kicks off !! Think I will just have to see how it all goes - fingers crossed.
