I'm new too
« on: December 13, 2013, 02:18:23 PM »

Hi all
My GP told me about this website and I read a little yesterday and it did actually cheer me up a bit.
I'm 46 and my periods stopped about nine months ago. That's probably it. Going for a bone density test just after xmas and GP's keen to put me on HRT. But, I also have MS, doing well on meds but don't want to take any more stuff !

And, this is something I looked for on the website and my real query, my sense of smell's been really weird in the last two months. So either the MS is playing up or it's the meno. Odd sort of er, old feet or bummy wafts in the nose. Smelled everything from my husbands feet  ;D, sofa, cat, carpet etc to myself. My husband (as per usual) can't smell anything except the Impulse (which is strictly for teenagers right?) that I'm now dousing myself in. Anyone else with odd smell in nose? Can smell and taste anything else ok, but this is getting on my wick!

It's meno - I opened a thread 'whiffy'  I think Ic alled it ages ago  ::) was convinced that I smelt awful but DH couldn't find anything 'different'  ::)

:welcomemm:  keep browsing round. We have a humerous room too.  Have you read through the menus, left of page?  Useful hints there.

At your age you probably require HRT to protect your bones from thinning.  How much does the MS restrict your activities, as regular walking can stave off osteoporosis symptoms.  Regular bone scans are a good guide as to how good our bone density is!

Thanks CLKD. Have read everything relating to whiff etc on website. My MS was diagnosed about 4.5 years ago. Keep quite fit with rampant hiking, cycling (ok, it's a Dutch bike but even so) and swimming twice weekly so do all I can. Maybe I'll try and up my calcium intake. Will def go back to GP though and discuss HRT.

Nordic hiking ?  Have a read of the menus and make notes to take to your GP  ;)
