C your GP!  Headaches can be caused by many reasons: hormones, dehydrated, stress, neck problems …...

Maybe your estrogen dose is too high? :o

Silverlady posted this recently and I think it mentions headaches for excess estrogen.

Have a look see!

Well, I am on an estradiol patch....it is round, similar to vivelle dot on menu at left. Brands are different here in US but doses are the same. I still have to take progesterone daily, but at least I only have to remember to change patch 2 x weeklly.

I started with the .05mg, went to .075 after couple of months. 3 mo later doc raised me to .1 and I knew it was too much for me within a couple of doses so I cut 1/4 off and went back to .075 for the summer. 6 wks ago I started cutting patch in half and am back to .05mg which keeps flashes away and my breasts feel better, sleeping good too.  Also, I don't have that pain anymore in my feet when I wake up.  The VA symptoms seem better also as I think the higher doses were giving me a low grade thrush.  Only thing is, my urethra is iffy pretty often.

Hi i am going to try again tomorrow to see a doctor, not sure whether to ask to try Esradot or the gel,  I like the idea of the gel as you can add a little or decrease but with the patches you can put one on and then leave for a few days, so confused, tonight a few hours after I took my HRT I started to get a real bad headache and also nausea, if I go for a patch what would be a rough dose I would need and the same will go for a gel, sorry to be a pain but as I said before my GP isnt very good on HRT and it will take a while to be referred to a meno clinic  :) :) :)

Hi moonbeam

If you suffered from headaches pre-menstrually then this is classic pms - and if it was just before a period this is when your progesterone and oestrogen levels drop.

I doubt you will be getting too much oestrgoen from Climaval - it is nowhere near the amount of oestrogen you will have had when fertile and younger but maybe the pill from doesn't agree with you due to the by-producst from metabolising it in the liver? Did you keep your ovaries when you had the operation?

I am sure you will definiely be better off with transdermal HRT and especially for your stomach problem as I have mentioned many times from when you firast started posting. I think you have had problems with an unhelpful nurse at your practice but hopefully you will get sorted soon!

Hi went to the GP this morning and he was as helpful  as a hole in the head, all he said I have a temperature and a inflamed throat, gave me antibiotics and said he does not  believe  changing my HRT to a transdermal will any effect on my stomach and also said transdermal does go through the liver  :o and to come back after christmas, so disappointed , he was a locum as I went as a emergency ,so tomorrow I will try and get my normal GP but it will not be now till the new year   :( :(

Sorry but did you not insist. I thought you were going to print out information from the menu.
You could email Dr Currie giving all the relevant details and then print off her answer and take it to your GP.

How did you get from HRT to a sore throat. if I were you I would stop taking your current HRT and see if you stopped feeling sick and then you will know for sure. Some hot flushes as compared to constant nausea. I would rather have the flushes.

I went cause of the headaches so he checked my temp throat and ears also my blood pressure and thats when he said I have an infection or something, so then I mentioned my HRT and the route and stuff but he said I will have to get over the antibiotic first and then see what to do, I did print off the stuff and mentioned DR Currie but he wasnt interested and didnt believe that that changing the route  ie patches or gel will make any difference as it will still go through the liver !!!!!!!  I did say I have no faith in my GP, I am going to ring to see the lady doctor tomorrow and will mention about a referral to the meno clinic but I am not holding may breath,  thanks for your replies I feel my self welling up at the mo cause all I want is to feel good and so far I am not getting any were  :( :(

It's such a shame that so many women have to fight for the right treatment.

Don't give up.

To right, we should be able to see a doctor  who specializes in the menopause without the need for referrals,  even if it just once or twice but I know that certain parts of the country dont even have a clinic. It is hard enough to deal with without fighting to get the right HRT and stuff  so sad ........... :)
