Will let it have a hot wash this week.  Think the sensor has probably 'gone'  ::)

I have never used salt as I am in a soft water area so there is no need. Every so often I put a dishwasher cleaner through. As I always rinse every thing before I put them in them it's never very dirty anyway.

My salt gets used on path in winter.  ;D

I use a proper cleaner too to de-gunk it. A hot wash is not enough to clean the pipes.

Is anyone having difficulty sourcing dishwasher powder as opposed to those small cubes of 'stuff' - which stick to the machine and don't wash particualry well?  I bought a gel yesterday but that doesn't have enough power to clean inside the mugs  ::) and there seems to be a dirth of powders in all the supermarkets .........  >:(

The tablets don't seem to dissolve  as well on the cooler wash cycles.  Fine on the hot cycles though.

My machine really started to stink when I only used non-bio liquid when my daughter was younger...I googled it (as with everything) and apparently there are no enzymes in the non bio to kill any bacteria when washing at cooler temps.

It didn't take long after switching detergent for the problem to go away...it's a horrible smell, esp when your clothes warm up on you, bleh...at least i was getting a double seat to myself on the bus regularly! x

 ;D …….. I don't travel on buses  ;)

I found that the 'low temp' washes didn't well, wash the clothing properly.  One requires heat in order to break down the powders and also to flush the reside through the machines.  So went back to boiling towels/sheets, 50 for other clothing and a special wash for tender items.

If you are doing a cooler wash in a dishwasher then don't put the tablet in the dispenser just put it in the body of the machine. It will dissolve fine then.

I'm confused now. Are we talking about dishwashers or washing machines.  ???

It started off with both.  Then I couldn't find dishwasher powder and the ball thingies stick and don't dissolve, also they are wrapped and that goes into landfill  ::)

Marks and Spencers do dishwasher tablets that have wrappers that dissolve.
