Oh I know what you mean. For about a year I got really weird feelings too, some quite scary in fact. GP had me referred for psychiatric assessment - panic attacks. However, after joining on here, it would appear they were in fact very strong flushes. Floored me every time I had a bad one, to the point where if I didn't lie or sit down I'd have collapsed. Never knew when it would happen, occasionally when driving the car. However, suffice to say I've only had the odd one since & I force myself to concentrate on my breathing until it subsides.

Mine are all like that - horrible things - I have always thought that it's the increased adrenaline just before a flush hits. I feel edgy and sometimes have a horrible feeling of doom and also weak and I have to sit down although the times I'm not able to sit down I am still ok and get through it.  My heart rate increases. I feel a bit sick and tummy feels funny. Sometimes it feels as if I can't get enough air and then the flush starts. It takes around five minutes from start to sweaty finish (sounds like some men I have known  ;D) and I get them every twenty minutes. I can hear HRT calling me back....

The one on waking is very common.

When I was getting them I was on HRT, which is why I didn't put two & two together, mind you neither did my GP, who at one point gave prescription for Prozac! Psychiatric nurse was horrified! I never filled out the prescription though, thank goodness. It appears to have been hormonal all along. Fat lot some GPs know!

Hi Smudgy- I get those weird hot flush feelings too-for me it starts with a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach-then a rush of adrenaline with feelings of dread and panic, then palpitations before the rush of heat. It really is horrible and leaves me feeling very drained.  Magsx

I've never experienced the 'weird feeling' before a flush, but when the night sweats started this summer I always had one within moments of switching off the light. It was as if the sweat was triggered by the darkened room! Goodness knows why.
Fortunately the flushes and sweats have stopped since I started my regime of starflower oil and evening primrose oil.

Hello ladies, just wanted to say me too regarding these type of flushes. They've been pretty intense this week but I haven't had any of the sweating and feeling hot with them so maybe it's just another version of a flush. Also I've noticed that feelings of dread fractionally precede these particular flushes, making me think that it's my emotional state that's causing them, then again who knows?
Take care everyone.
