How long after your last period until you start to feel your old self again?

From 0 to never!  The luck of the draw - everyone is different!

I don't think anyone can answer this question.  If you are getting bad meno symptoms the only way I know to feel good again is to use HRT. I tried to be without HRT from the age of 49 - 52 and now feel I lost those years completely. I am taking a break from HRT again now (I'm 57) and if the symptoms are bad i'll be going back on. I want and need quality life now - I need to work - being without sleep etc. is simply not an option.
Some find they get flushes etc for just a few months and then other have symptoms fro 10 years or more.
One thing I will be definitely continuing is the local oestrogen(Vagifem) to help with atrophy. The burning discomfort has been horrible even with full HRT.
I hope you are one of the lucky ones and don't suffer for too long.

Hi toffeecushion - I agree with what Dancinggirl has said. I wondered which part of your "old self" has gone?

I'm still waiting at 56 1/2 y/o.  I think you have to look at how can you improve your quality of life for specific annoyances rather than  feeling like yourself again....we cannot turn back the clock. :(
