Not sure about glutamine Bev but thanks for mentioning it. One thing I've been told not to take is immodium - especially while on antibiotics
It does say this on the immodium fact sheet "DON'T take this medicine and consult a doctor instead if any of the following apply to you: if your diarrhoea started either during or after taking a course of antibiotics"
Hope you feel better soon!

Oooooops will stop then, actually I have only just started the antibiotic so only had one instant tablet today. Been having D for 6 weeks though with the AD, something to do with serotin receptors in the gut I think. Funny as the worst D recently was the day I got my last period. There is a reason for this but I can't remember now. I do know though when you get those labour type period pains that have you almost on the floor that gives me D too must be like a muscle spasm. What a lovely subject

It seems as if they are finally finding out much more about how the two are linked Sparkle. Glad you found it interesting.

Sorry you're not well Taz. OH had C Difficile after a course of ABs and was put on a heavy duty probiotic which definitely helped. It's a horrendous price though as not available on the NHS. DSL3.
The specialist said the over the counter probiotic pills are mostly already dead and the yoghurty ones don't contain enough probiotic.

Thanks ladies. I forgot to have the probiotic yesterday and today but, fingers crossed, my stomach has felt much more comfy. Probably nothing to do with it and I'll be back on here later saying I've spent the last hour in the loo
Will check out Symprove.

I liked the sound of Symprove. Everything but the price. It's a bit out of my league and it could be just another expensive experiment.
Has anyone on the forum tried it.

I've found this review from a fat-intolerant IBS sufferer

Doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it but very honest.
I think I will just stick with what I am doing. Back to having porridge in the morning which is helpful.

Hello ladies, just wanted to say that I've been taking Symprove for six months and it has helped but because of the cost I plan to reduce to a maintainance dose shortly. Due to Ulcerative Colitis I also take olive oil daily and avoid dairy products. Of course this may all be a coincidence but my digestive system is behaving normally and I'm not on any medication. Hope this helps.
Take care.
