Hi - I'me not at expert, but I thought you had to do an initial loading up, of once a day for one or two weeks at the start. That was certainly the case with Gynest cream which is a much lower dose that Vagifem.
I think I have seen some ladies here talk about initial loading up with Vagifem. Probably worth talking to your GP or pharmacist and saying "it says here" and asking them to help.
I'me sure somebody who knows what they are talking about will be along soon

Hi moonbeam.
As Limpy says you use it every day for two weeks (the loading period - this plumps up the vaginal tissues) and thereafter twice a week as a maintenance dose.
I can't remember if you are on full HRT or not? If so perhaps that is the reason the doc suggested just using it once a week. However I would use according to the instructions (as above) as it kick starts the regeneration of the vaginal tissues.

No need to ring GP moonbeam. Just follow the instructions - the same as I said in my post below

Once a week isn't going to do much if you are in need right now!....you need to take once a day for 2 wks, then twice weekly as the others have advised. Call the GP if you run out.

My Dr prescribed Vagifem for me this week, the instruction is every night for 2 weeks then twice weekly thereafter, I haven't tried it before and am willing to give it a try. She only prescribed a 3 month supply so I'm not sure what to do after that, I believe it should run continuously but I will wait and see if it makes any difference first.

Hi all thanks for all your replies, I will use it everyday for a week, any known side effects cause last night I woke up feeling sick and had a achey stomach, a bit like period pain and was wondering if it could be the Vagifem or just something else

moonbeam - I had this the first couple of days of using Vagifem and I even had a bit of spotting at the end of the 2 week initial stint. I called the practice nurse about this and she said it was quite normal. I'm into my fifth week ( now doing 2x per week) and no pain or spotting now. Still got a burning fanny but hoping this will get better with time. Apparently it can take a few months to kick in.

Moon
Feeling sick and period type pains are normal so it achy boobs
But if your are over your periods for a year or 2 if your over 50 you have any bleeding nip to GP
Im sure you will be fine Whent on Vagifem 2010 i had sides but after a while it settled down
Just use it daily for 2 weeks then go on to 2x7 ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The time for Vagiem to really work is as varied as we are for some ladies it works quicky
For others it can take up to 5 months or so to feel really good
I started mine Feb 14 2010 it took to the July for it to work with out me worrying of failing daily.
I have blips now and again and also BURNING sometimes for no reason I can find?
I had to do a reloading dose last December for 10 days and felt so much better
Im still on Vagiem 25m x2x7 its still available in Australia so keep on OK hugs Suzi Q

I had a sort of slight period (with sore boobs) when I started vagifem. I stopped it for a while, then restarted on 2x weekly.
When I remember- I use it last thing at night and often forget
