long time lurker, now a member!
« on: October 19, 2013, 12:21:16 AM »

Hi everyone! I finally decided to "fish or cut bait" as we say here in US and joined the forum! My heritage is from Wales I think....came to US back in late 1600s.

I decided to take the plunge as I have been reading the forum for several years and have learned so much from you lovely ladies that it felt weird staying in the shadows.  Please be patient with me as I don't know your English lingo very well and I know the names of the drugs are different here in the US, but believe me, the menopause symptoms are the VERY SAME.  I also have the lovely distinction of living in Texas where it is usually over 100 degrees farenheit (sp?) from June to September and it only gets cold in late December to February so that means I sweat a lot.  My most worrisome symptom and the first one that reared it's head is VA which I have been fighting since at least 2006, even before my periods stopped....no bleeding since  2010 at age 53.   I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones ???...yeah, right.  Now on vagifem (3 yrs) and patches with Prometrium nightly (Utro to you ladies) and still having symptoms with VA...can you believe it!!  Also early osteoporosis in hips for which I take a bisphosphonate.  Menopause stinks! And I thought when I was perimenopausal that I would just stick it out cuz' I'm a pretty tough gal...guess I'm a wimp after all, or at least my body/ovaries are!  So nice to be a member.  Hope I am able to help someone as y'all have helped me.

Hello Andius and welcome to the forum.
As a long time lurker you'll be very familiar with all that this site has to offer us 'ladies of a certain age' as we Brits used to rather coyly put it.
I always found reading the site very helpful but actually joining in and being able to hear from other women has been invaluable. Menopause can be a 'hard row to hoe' as I think you say in the deep south!?
Take care.
