No it's not a strange question, Chick 1506, as I've been thinking this too. I am on very strong painkillers which cause constipation and I find that if I don't take Actilax (which is the only one I can tolerate due to IBS) the VA seems worse. There is a lot of pressure on your lower organs when the bowel is full. It will be interesting to see what others think. Why did you link the two?

From my own experience...definetely
WHen i was on utrogestan , th last 4 days of each round, i got constipated and headachey(although my doc says that was unlikely!)
My va was definetely worse during these times.

Take care

Yes, definitely.

I used to see a uro-gynae and was told that constipation and straining weakens the pelvic floor muscles which hold the vag and bladder in place, making the whole area atrophy more at meno (with tissue affected by decreasing estrogen levels) - great, eh.  When the bowel is full is puts extra strain on the whole area and as this can create more discomfort / irritation.  There's also the link between constipation, candida and thrush, irritating the vag further.

OMG really thought I was asking a very weird question  ;D but trying to see why at times VA gets worse and it seems when having trouble with going to the toilet I get a build up causes bloating and then VA seems to get worse but also 2/3 days before my period is due its bad as well  ??? just like before Vagifem

Rose linked the two because: if my life changes straight away my body closes down e.g. visiting in laws one toilet in the house, no lock and i panic I am use to an en suite at home.  I have moved house and  no en suite awaiting to install one so now sharing bathroom with the rest of my large family have a lock but need time lol sorry if TMI so it kicked in bad the last few days prior to post, so took the plunge and posted the  question also have a heavy feeling.

I am so glad I posted the question because others are experiencing problems but that's where we must not be embarrassed to ask any question!!!!!

Thank you to all replies but does anyone have an idea why it flares up every month before my period xx

Chick - I've just read your post and wondered whether you could have a slight prolapse especially if you have a heavy feeling. If your bowel has slightly prolapsed then this can put pressure on the vagina especially if you get constipated. Just a thought. I haven't read through all of your posts so I might be talking rubbish of course  ;D

It depends on how much your symptoms affect your life chick. Some women get very few symptoms of prolapse and others find it very uncomfortable. It might at least give you an explanation though.
