Tell us more about your self, age, how long you have felt 'off', what your feelings are regarding HRT ........ have you read the menus left of screen?  There is useful info there.

Hi Debbie,

You sound just like I was for the 2/3 years before I took myself along to the doctor to get prescribed HRT. Strange thing was I didn't appreciate at the time that what I was experiencing was perimenopausal symptoms. I just thought I was going a bit mad and it was only when the hot flushes started that I understood what was happening. I would've had an easier time of it had I sussed things out sooner. I went on HRT at 47/48 and have never regretted it. I get bad bleeds but weighing everything up, it's worth it. You'll feel so much better and your relationships will benefit considerably.

I hope things work out for you. It's a horrible time and I don't think we are properly prepared for it when it happens. I still think I'm 30 something and can't believe my body is telling me otherwise.

Haha, I'm probably not the best person to ask because I've been on 4 different types of sequential HRT over the last 5 years and kept changing because I was getting really bad bleeds. Every time I changed, things would be great for a while then revert to heavy, debilitating bleeds again... Even so, it was better than the peri symptoms. The last sequential HRT (estrogen every day and progesterone for the last 12 days of the month) I was on was Estradot 50mg patches and Utrogestan 100mg oral capsules.

I don't think people understand just how bad it can be unless you've been there yourself. I nearly lost my partner over it, was just not coping at work and found everything totally overwhelming. You will probably notice a difference almost immediately. I hope you have a nice GP. Mine is lovely but I had a tendency to burst into tears every time I went to see her for a while and her being nice to me made it worse lol.

Let me know how you get on  :)

Does sound as if HRT could benefit you Debs, and you won't know til you try.

Lol@ Mags, it's always worse when people are nice to you isnt it?!

I also am having problems with work changed my job just as it all started and have changed again since as insecurities are making it impossible to do my job. I don't really understand anything about HRT but nothing else I have tried has helped so hope the doc can explain it all to me. Some people seem to get it much worse than others and I seem to have every sympton also had endometriosis not sure if it is connected to a bad menopause

Hi you sound just like I felt for the last year. The summer months just past were horrific! So dr said I needed to give hrt a go! I started ellest duet only last month and by the 4th I felt like a new woman - clearer head, no more funny heart racing, no flashes or sweats and I could sleep - wonderful :) thn came the green tablets ( combi pack 16 white tabs followed by 12 green - i think thats what it is ) and things whilst no where near as bad menopause symptoms weren't just as good as the white - felt very sick, teary and bled the whole time. Phoned dr yesterday and she said to give another packet a go as she's unsure at this stage if changing would be of any benefit - she was lovely and I said I try another packet and see her at the end of the month but didn't like the green ones!!! I'm 41 and new to all this too! This site is great loads of help and reassurance.

Elleste Duet does contain norethisterone but a lot of women get on with it. The only way to find out is to try it - you may find it suits you really well. If you have a look at the menu on the left of the screen the HRT preparations are listed there - most of them anyway - and you should be able to find which ones have which progesterone in.
