Skies cleared, but still didn't see. Would have needed to be away from light pollution.

My two kids sat out until the wee small hours watching, it was really quite something to see. I git cold and went to bed.

Sorry you missed it CG. Not sure if we get another chance tonight.

I tried on a few occasions. Tried blinkering my eyes to street lights. Hey ho maybe one day I will see shooting stars. Also would love to see Northern Lights. You'd think that would be easy up my part of the country.

The stars here were very clear even with the street lighting but it would have been brilliant sat in a field in Suffolk I reckon - those tremendous skies - I still miss those tremendous skies...

Saw 10 shooting stars, sat outside from 11.30, then in the bedroom window till 12.30 made me quite happy, doesn't take a lot 

Cuba girl, i too would love to see Northern lights, i find it all fascinating.

I looked out on a star filled sky- saw nothing, but a neighbours cat gave me a huge fright when he sneaked in the patio doors- arghhhh!!! Went outside again at about 2 and 3- not sleeping too well, arthritis giving me gip at moment- still nothing.
The neighbours think I'm potty.
Saw the Northern lights once coming home from a stay in Canada- flew up the St. Lawrence River. Wow, was a little unreal though, like a lime green curtain floating in the sky- no one on the plane was interested.

We sleep under a big velux window in our roof.. saw about 7 or 8 shooting stars before my eyes closed, but thought I might have seen more if I'd been looking in the right place... mentioned this on facebook this morning and quick as a wink my neighbour replied.... I think the sky is the right place to look though... every one a comedian.....

The best way is to take a rug out with you and lie down - no cricked neck!

I never thought of that! So I did! Took out a big blanket, covered with an old zed-bed mattress the kids used to use for sleepovers, got an old pillow, put on my wellies, a fleece and a raincoat (the grass is quite long and it was damp!) and lay down on a bit of grass from about 10.45 until midnight. Middle son came to join me half way through. No street lights here in the countryside so was fantastic!!!  Clear skies and even better than the night before but without the sore neck! Saw lots and lots - probably about 30 or 40 altogether some small some huge and with the amazing tail looking like bright aeroplane trails - and lasting long enough to say to my son (or him to me) "hey look at that one"! The tail glowed for a split second after the meteor had blazed past.

Saw a couple out of the bedroom window as I went to bed too. Husband got up in the night as usual but saw nothing.... he should have gone outside for a lie down!

My daughter said they were like fireworks at one point. They were coming at about two a minute.
We have little ambient light as we are so near the coast. It's pitch black out there so we had a good view. We were told on our local bbc news to look north west and that's over the sea.

I'm glad it worked - so much more comfy than standing there looking up at the sky. I was amazed to find out that the biggest particle is the size of a pea and that most of them are the size of a grain of sand! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23673948

I was well disappointed. I only saw about 4 in 15 minutes & it was so blooming cold out there. I got a stiff neck too.
