Does anyone else find that their patches are not sticking so well in this weather?  My Estradot are normally OK, but this week they've been curling up after just one day..........

For the time being I have not put my patch on, just a tiny dab of Estrogen Gel, will start back on my patch when the weather cools. Luckily I have some Gel in reserve.

Not sure what to suggest Liz but I am sure other ladies will have some good ideas.

Mine are sticking fast, no different from usual, despite temperatures in the mid 20's.

Yep mine are just the same. Evoril stick really well and you can have as many baths as you want and they are still there holding on.

I don't get it.... I had this problem with the Femseven as well and at first the Estradot seemed to stick well.  Wonder if it's my daily 2 hour dog walk that does it?

I've also been swabbing my skin with surgical spirit before applying the patch..... perhaps this is making it worse?  I'd read that it was a good thing to do, but I'll try and stop doing that and see what happens.

Hi there - I've answered a bit on your other thread but heat directly next to patches will affect them - but not simply because you are hot. So if I was sunbathing in a chair for instance the heat is pressing against the patch on my rear and it can come loose if I then slide off the chair or change my clothing carelessly etc -after all you apply heat to stick the adhesive to your skin in the first place so direct heat is bound to loosen the adhesive. You just need to get used to it and make sure you don't do anything where there is direct heat right next to it and then make a movement that will dislodge it.

So your dog walking - if it's on your thigh and it's hot then your clothing will be rubbing against it - depends what you're wearing of course. This could be the cause.

I think I've mentioned before that patch users do develop a way of surreptitiously feeling to make sure it;s still stuck or firming it down again if it shows signes of loosening!!!

I am sure you will get used to it soon....

As I live in Oz you can imagine the heat we go through in Summer. Well, apparently patches of any kind aren't used in places of humidity as they fall off. There is a kind of plaster that you can put over your patch to help it stick. The weather will change soon so it won't be a problem. You are probably having high humidity at the mo. It's freezing here at the moment, by the way. We had snow in the hills which is unheard of! Strange weather patterns!

I have recently changed from evorel sequi to femseven sequi as I was getting horrible side effects from the progesterone in evorel. So far I am tolerating them better but they do not stick very well, do not last 7 days. Not sure if it is the hot weather plus I swim daily or do others find femseven not as good as evorel for stickiness?

Also i am going to Australia in November for nearly 4 weeks and concerned to read the reply from Rose who says patches are no good there due to temperatures and high humidity.

There are lots of complaints about the fact that Femseven don't stick properly. Some of us have written to the manufacturers but they refuse to acknowledge that there is a problem. Some advise sticking the patch down with tape but, according to the manufacturers, this will not release the hormone. The hormone is contained in the adhesive and unless the patch is firmly stuck to the skin then the hormone isn't released fully.

Do you follow the instructions to the letter Libralady? I think they advise holding the patch firmly in place with a warm palm for around 30 seconds? I found a minute was better and, sometimes, I have also held a warm hairdryer over it to get a good "fix". I am just about to go back to Evorel and it's evil progesterone because I can no longer cope with the Femseven patch falling off all the time and my docs have refused to give me extra patches due to the cost to the practice.

I find it so annoying to be talked down to by the manufacturers who disbelieve what we are saying!

Evoril continue stick fine. I used as normal on holiday, lay in the sun, went swimming and all ok.

Hi again.  Well, I didn't swab with the surgical spirit this time and the patch seems to have stayed in place better, although it's not been quite so hot and humid either, so maybe that's helped.

I may have to think about trying them again on my bum cheek.  Going on holiday aboard at the end of September so don't fancy showing them off on my thigh.  Tucked under the bikini bottoms may be a better option!

I stick mine on the side above my thigh, under my waist and under the side of my knickers/bikini.
Am I sticking in wrong place??

Hi Libra lady! I hope you will love Oz . Where are you going to visit? I live in the south which is a very dry heat so no humidity. I went to Bali ,and as I wear patches for pain, the damn things kept falling off! Never fear, go to chemist when you are here and they have a 'breathable' patch covers if you need them and they are designed not to interfere with patch release.There is also a thing called 'skin prep' manufactured by smith &nephew which helps the patch stay on. As the Ozzies are used to this sort of thing, they should be able to help. Hope this helps!

I will try the hairdryer technique. I am shocked the manufacturers do not listen to feedback and react, I work in the pharma industry and my company would certainly react better to people complaining. If things continue I might have to change again and try estradot and utrogestan. But have asked my GP before for utrogestan and she did not seem keen.

Rose, coming to Sydney then doing a cruise up the east coast to Brisbane, Cairns Airlie Beach, Darwin then on to Bali and Singapore. Looking forward to it.
