I'm not suffering from insomnia or night sweats or disturbed sleep - even in this heat. I go to bed tired at about 10.30 (in the week) and I fall straight to sleep and barely register anything till the morning. BUT, I always wake with a bursting bladder and sometimes that's at 5.30. Once I've got out of bed to go to the loo it's almost impossible to go back to sleep, I'm wide awake. However, by 8am when I need to leave for work I'm ready to go back to sleep - even if I didn't wake till my alarm goes off at 6.30. Then I'm spending the day feeling really tired and woozy and woolly headed. Part of the week I'm on my feet all day in a library and the other part I sit at a desk. On Thursday I had to ask my boss to let me take a couple of hours holiday to go home early and go back to bed because I was literally falling asleep at my desk - I couldn't keep my eyes open and felt like I was wading through treacle. I slept for 2.5 hours when I got home and only got up because my partner woke me for dinner!
So I think I'm getting plenty of sleep. I eat a healthy diet with lots of fresh food, I drink plenty of water. I haven't had any alcohol all week, which hasn't made any difference at all.
Is this a peri-menopause symptom or should I go see my GP to find out what's wrong with me?
