BREAST PAIN - HELP ?
« on: July 12, 2013, 07:40:55 PM »

Can anyone give advice on how to deal with breast pain it is pretty constant and in both breasts.  I have had a mammogram last month it showed benign cysts but they are so painful.  They offered to draw the
fluid out but I thought this would be worse. Anyway sick of the pain it's very dull and sore like you get just befor a period but never goes away.  Specialist told me to keep taking Evening Primrose with the high
GLA content and that was that.

Before I started HRT I bought some progesterone cream, I used it due to swollen painfull breasts and this brought my period on and gave me some relief.  I spoke to my GP with regard to using this and she said it wasn't patented in the uk and couldn't prescribe it.

I stated on oral HRT due to increased PMS and have been using this for the past 18 months but recently, I have been been suffering from painful lumpy breasts again and about a month ago I started using a very small amount of the progesterone cream in addition to HRT.  This has had an amazing effect in that my painfull breasts feel so much better and I also was suffering from a painful neck and shoulders and this has also improved!

I really believe progesterone is overlooked and can help with symptoms in peri menopause and not just as a reason to thin the lining of the womb!

Maybe a visit to your GP is in order but at the moment I can't speak highly enough of progesterone cream  (I bought mine from Amazon but I believe if you live in the US this is available over the counter in health stores!)

EPO with high GLA helped me. As for cysts, I do sympathise. I've had a few drained. Not pleasant, in fact very unpleasant. However, I would rather have them drained and checked than left alone.

KatieLiz - this might sound really stupid but what do you do with the progesterone cream - do you rub it on your breasts?   I also suffer from painful breasts - had a routine mammogram a couple of months ago which didn't help.  No lumps, just very painful a lot of the time.

Natural progesterone is anti inflammatory  http://raypeat.com/articles/articles/progesterone-summaries.shtml

I would not rub it on breasts though in France they suggest rubbing progesterone gel on breasts when painful.

I would just put a small amount where skin is thinnest e.g. inside of wrists.

When using progesterone cream they say don't keep putting it on the same place everyday but when my breasts were painful I just rubbed a small pea-sized amount twice a day where it was painful ie mostly a lumpy area on the right side.  Although I did vary the places as well ie inside of wrists, inside of thighs, chest, (and back of neck, where I've been having a painful neck!)

My breast pain has now settled and I used the cream for about 21 days, have had a seven day break and am now going to start using it again for another 21 days to see if this prevents my breast pain.

Its really strange because the cream seems to have given me a boost in well being, in addition to sorting out pain.  I have read you shouldn't use too much cream as this can sometimes be unhelpful but it is something you can stop using at any time if necessary.

I know everyone if different and our hormone levels vary at different times but for me this seems to have had a positive effect so far but I am still experimenting.

Acupuncture.  There are certain points that work a treat for this.

Are you on HRT? I had it badly and my gynae also prescribed primrose oil but I found that when I went onto a more regular dose of Utrogestan(Progesterone) it made a huge difference so mine was definitely due to a hormonal imbalance with too little Progesterone.
