Shave or wax....and how about nose hair
« on: July 08, 2013, 06:59:02 PM »

What's best for legs. I shave at the moment but always end up with tufty bits because I do it in the shower so therefore no glasses.
I shave my underarms. I did use hair removal cream many years ago but I have sensitive skin and ended up in a real mess so I won't do that. I kind of think that any cream that is strong enough to dissolve hair will not be skin friendly.

So can anyone recommend a reasonably priced wax that works.

And also what about nose hair.....Not a lot but still there....pluck or what.

Honeybun,
The very thought of plucking nose hair makes me cringe - too painful - I am a coward.  I must admit I snip my nasal hair and shave my legs and underarms.  I managed to get my eyebrows waxed once but on the second occasion I legged it when I saw a young girl crying while getting her eyebrows threaded.  ;D

Ditto - I shave legs and armpits - the hair barely grows back on my legs anyway and is very sparse - maybe I would do something else if I was more hairy  ;D
I do the same for the bikini line - ie shave - doesn't notice when you get brown!
I get my eyebrows waxed when I go to big town (not often these days!) but usually covered by my fringe thank goodness... and I only have one nose hair (!!!) that appears very rarely so I pluck it - very painful though and makes my eyes water!
What things we talk about?!

I go to a local salon and get waxed every four weeks - legs, underarms, bikini line and eyebrows which I also have tinted as they're very fair.  I finish it all off with a lovely back, neck and shoulder massage, divine  :)

Shave armpits & bikini area
Epilator on legs, sometimes bits, very small bits, of bikini area if feeling brave

I use to go to a salon and have underarm, legs, bikini & eyebrow wax £30 every 5 wks,but I'm trying to cut back so I tried one of the DIY ones.
I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to do.
I used Veet which has 20 pre waxed strips and 4 wipes for after.
I did my underarms,legs & bikini.
I left my eyebrows cos I didn't trust myself to do those so I just gave them a good pluck.
Oh! and I pluck the one hair I have on my chin. It is quite thick so is noticeable.

CKLD you made me chuckle with that  :D

I shave my legs , pit's and girly bits!!!
But at xmas I asked hubby to buy me one of those nono things, I think it cost him well over a £100 and, to my mind anyway, what a waste, I tried a few times, but I still have to shave my legs, which is defeating the object.
don't know about waxing, i've never tried it, i have been tempted , but it looks a little messy  ;)

CLKDs toes made me laugh too. Gorilla feet.    ;D

I have tried all sorts and end up back with the razor. I don't shave my lady bits now as I am growing it long enough so I can have a comb over to hide my bald bits.

I did have an epilator at one point and discovered I am not into masochism. I sold it on eBay....ewwwww I would not buy a second hand one of those.

I would like to try the wax strips though.

"I don't  shave my lady bits now as I am growing it long enough so I can have a comb over to hide my bald bits"  ;D That made me laugh Honeybun.

The wax strips are good honeybun. They cost around £5 for the pack of 20.
They were 3 for 2 at Sainsburys.

if you use these wax strips how long before the hair grows back?  last time i had my legs waxed to go on holiday i was floating on an airbed in the pool, ( after quite a few attempts to get on it  ;D ;D what a sight, have you ever tried getting on 1 of these in a ladylike fashion ? was never going to happen  ;D good job i dont mind getting my hair wet like some of the ladies i see in the pool  ;) ) anyway whilst floating face down my other half announced you got quite a few hairs on the back of your legs, did you know?  embarrassing  :-[ so my point is the waxing didnt last 2 weeks  :(  rambling now are'nt i sorry   kerrie

It's winter here in Oz but I still shave my legs and underarms. My mum always said you never know when you might have an accident and land in hospital ,so best be prepared for any eventuality  ???  Very optimistic mother I have! My pubes started needing a comb over 5yrs ago but now have gone for the "I'm bald and don't I know it"!
As for facial hair  :o has anyone noticed stubborn single hair growing on chin that seems to grow overnight and you just notice it during the day, miles from your tweezers? No one told me about excess nasal hair either so be careful ladies and wear your glasses when you look in the mirror or you'll be the only one who hasn't noticed that hair!
Menopause! Who either wants or needs it :o
