We use my Hyundai conversion more for day out trips: antique fairs, fishing, general travelling round. We didn't go over-night at all during 2017. Didn't have time now that we are retired
. It is very comfy and ideal for the two of us, plus we have an awning.
There are lots of issues to consider other than cost. How much will you use one? Do you want a full blown motor home or camper 'van? Remember: in a small van, what you carry takes up space!
Where will you store it, which costs money and extra time? My camper allows us to be spontaneous: look at the weather, drive it out of the garage and go. A larger motorhome can't be stored outside our house so it would take us half a day to collect it B4 we went away.
There are kerb weight limits so although it might be a large 'van, it doesn't mean that you can carry more stuff. Also, from the age of 70, one has to downsize
. They have to have a service yearly on the electrics and gas in the van as well as the usual MOT and regular servicing as you would a car.
Do you intend to have it as your main vehicle? Look out for height restrictions as many supermarkets etc. don't allow access. Park and Ride?
