Hi there,

Firstly I'm new to the board, so hello 
I'm 27 and have just been diagnosed with a premature menopause and been told I've no chance of conceiving in the future due to such a low AMH. The premature menopause seems to be as a result of chemo as a teenager. I've recently started HRT in form of a patch called femseven conti. I'm struggling with it a little bit, because I'm getting such a bad rash/reaction on the skin around it and underneath. I spoke to my GP, they suggested applying hydrocortisone cream an hour before applying patch - this hasn't helped at all. Does anyone find the tablets for HRT good? I was a bit unsure as I'd heard reports they tend to have more side effects.

Also, does all this 'news' get any easier? I only found out 2 weeks ago, so it's relatively early but struggling to come to terms with both a premature menopause and also infertility. It's a real blow to me.

Hi J - I agree that it sounds absolutely daft to expect you to apply the cream under the patch. Other members on here have had allergic reactions and they have all been taken off that particular make of patch - which is the advice in the product leaflet too - well it's the advice on mine anyway

Femseven Conti also gave me a bad rash and itch around the patch. You could try Evoril which has a different adhesive.

Have you checked out the Daisy website. It is specifically for early meno ladies.
We have a few ladies here who are in the same position as you are and we will help as much as we possibly can but a forum of younger women may well help with the things we might not know.

It must be very difficult for you to get to grips with and I guess it will take time to come to terms with.
It's really important that you find an HRT that suits you in order to protect your heart and bones.

Look around and join in....there is always someone here for a chat.

Sorry - I know nothing about premature menopause, sure somebody will be along soon who will help.

Putting cream underneath a patch doesn't seem a good idea. It just seems a good way to make sure the patch doesn't stick properly. Go back to your GP and discuss other HRT options, tablets may suit you better. The menu on the left has lots of information about the different types of HRT that are available.

Hi there. Goodness that is young. I agree try some other form of HRT. I'm on patches but used to be on gel. You are correct in saying that gel/patches are safer way to take HRT.

Thanks for the prompt responses everyone. I went back to my GP today actually, been put on Evorel patches now. Hoping they don't cause skin irritation, if they do then I'll need to consider other options. I'm seeing a HRT specialist on 2nd July so that'll be useful.
I did hear about Daisy, but you have to pay to join and become a member - that put me off a little.

Evorel patches are nice, they also stick really well.
You'll need baby oil to clean off residue when removing patches on change day.

I'm older than you but have also premature ovarian failure and been through the IVF mill so please ask if you have any questions.
I'm on oestrogel because it's a gel you rub in. Tablets made me sick and patches irritated my skin. I'd ask for that.
I have a friend in the same position as you who feels great now she has found the HRT that suits her. She also has twin IVF boys and it's all worked out fine.
