oxtail and cider stew.  Also making a chocolate tray bake with icing and sprinkles (they used to be called hundreds and thousands).

Yes, I do need to keep busy - keeps me sane.

Never considered putting oxtail together with cider.

Let us....well me ... ::) know what it tastes like.

Haven't done oxtail for years 'cos it became un-obtainable due to various neurological diseases - it was a staple in our student days  ::) and adding cider  :-* and another glug shortly before serving ;-)

DH is smoking fresh trout and will be cooking me some steak with chips

DH used to make proper Cornish pasties and freeze them: we would then take 1 out for lunch, by 12.30 it had de-frosted enough to eat …….

made a big tortilla this morning with red peppers, red onions, green beans, bacon, chives from garden and fresh mint and potatoes.  So we will have more of that and I will do a couple of chicken breasts too.

That's two new recipes today for me. Oxtail and sausages.
Always like some new ideas.
Trouble is DD has turned veggie and I'm struggling with recipes that don't involve too many peas or beans as I can't eat them.....well I can but I need tying down afterwards.  ;D

She does CLKD but when she is in late from uni it's nice for all of us to sit down together....oh and it means the cooker only goes on once instead of twice.

I really need to get a veggie cook book.....a visit to the library me thinks.

Good idea - always the Charity shops too for a browse?  None in Luss though  :D.  One could always cook peas/beans/cauli on the hob: enough for DD?

Indian cookery has lots of veggie recipes too.  Mainly due to it being hot with no way of keeping food stuffs fresh and also for religious reasons.  DH does a mean dahl [with yellow lentils] as well as lots of veg. with various spices.  Shall I send him up  ;) …….  :whist:

)that was a very silly fly, landed in my hot cuppa  :o ( …….

smells good.  Its one from Delia's 'frugal cookbook' though it must be an older edition when oxtail was a bit cheaper than it is now.  Still makes a nice change.  I have saved the rest of the cider for DH as I cant drink now.
Chocolate tray bake went wrong, it broke up when I took it out of tin.  icing was too runny too, whole thing is still a bit on the moist side to say the least, I think we might need a spoon to eat it, and I made it for DH to take away this weekend too :(

I have a great veggie cookbook, its an indian vegan book, got some great recepies in it.

You could eat it with ice-cream  ;) - or heat it in a mug?
