Having a period, I should know better.
« on: May 20, 2013, 04:41:14 PM »

OK, this was a bit of a surprise & not sure what to do.
My last period was 3 1/2 years ago. I have the mirena coil fitted, & take 1mg Climaval HRT tabs.

My dear Dad died on Saturday after a short illness, so I guess I am a bit stressed etc. Today has been tooing & froing to arrange the funeral, getting a venue organised for the wake, contacting the authorities etc to sort out finances etc. & generally trying to get things tied up. All the family have pulled together at this difficuilt time.

So here I am now, aged 55 (56 soon) & having a period. Not clots, but bright red blood. I had what felt like a period pain this morning & hey presto therre it was.

Now I know that I should get it checked out, but I also know I will get referred for a smear & a scan, & I feel certain that it will all be ok in the end.

I do think it is one of those blips, it is stress related & it is a one off..
But what would you do?

Sorry to hear about your Dad..... I lost my darling Dad last year and the grief and stress actually accelerated my menopause.  My Dr said that stress definitely affects it, so I would imagine that's what has caused you to have one now.

Look after yourself. x

Thanks Liz, that is what I was thinking.
Grief is a terrible thing but it needs to be done.

So sorry to hear your news about your Dad Cazikins. You have to look after yourself too though and you must get this checked out. If your smears are up to date then you will probably just be referred for a scan. Please don't leave it - it really isn't worth taking the chance.

Hugs.

I know Taz, I know, I knew you would point me in that direction.  :-* :-*
My smears are up to date as they can be. They "invite" me to go for a smear, I go & endure the pain, embarasement etc. It comes backcall  clear.

Do you think I should wait a day or so & see how it goes, or ring up for an appt tomorrow?

You know what I am going to say.... ring for an appointment... don't just wait to see if it stops or carries on because the important thing is that you have had bleeding - it doesn't matter if it only lasts for a day you do need to get it checked out. I'd come with you if I could!!

I know you are right Taz, it is exactly what I would tell anyone to do - it is just so hard when it is happening to yourself.

OK, I shall make an appt tomorrow & let you know what time I shall pick you up so that you can come with me, (oh I wish), we could then go for a drink.  ;) ;)

Sorry to hear your news Cazi.

I am with Taz....you need to think of you even at this most difficult time.

Taz will come with you and I can have the kettle on when you both get back.

Sending you a hug.

Cazi - So sorry to hear about your Dad.
I know it's tedious going to the GP, especially at a time like this, but you DO need to get checked out.
Taz is right.

Thanks Limpy & HoneyB, I know Taz is right that is why I will do as she says & make an appt.  :-*

I just needed to be told. ::) ::)

I still have that bloated feeling in my tummy & when I go to the loo & have a wee & wipe myself it is still all bloody. Really strange to see it after all these years. Luckily I have some panty liners that seem to be enough at the moment.

OK HB, get that kettle ready, & any chance of making some cakes, just so we make a day of it. ;D ;D

Just you tell me what you fancy and I will get on with it.

You are doing the right thing.

Tell me when that kettle should go on.

Take good care.

Put the kettle on HB, I'm leaving for the docs in about 20 mins. I'll pick up Taz on route & we will be round yours at about 11.45 for tea & cakes.

Bleeding is not so bad today, but hubby said I looked washed out last night. I think the last few days have finally caught up with me. Anyway lets see what doc has to say.

Love Cazi xx
