No HRT for me.
« on: April 30, 2013, 12:49:02 PM »

I have been taking Ellestee solo 1mg for four months since having a hysterectomy but have decided to stop as Im sure it made anxiety worse.I was still also having hot flushes at night so no help there.I was left with 1 ovary which my consultant said was very good for my age Im 52.Since stopping the HRT my anxiety is not so bad but my joints are painful. I am disappointed it did not work but the side affects which were also really sore breasts are just not worth it.

I do hope you manage without HRT.  I'm slowly trying to come off it.  As for the sore breasts, I can sympathise. I took starflower oil capsules which helped until pain subsided. Was then able to stop the capsules altogether.

Hi Anjia

Sorry to hear you are still having problems.

I have no experience of this but I understand that you would not necessarily expect to recover completely from such a major operation as a hysterectomy in four months. I am sure others will be able to comment on this.

Have you though that the preparation of HRT might not suit you, and that the dose may be too low (if you were still having flushes)? It may be that using a transdermal method ie patch or gel would make you feel better. The sore breasts should subside after a while.

As you say it is disappointing that this one did not work but you should be able to find something that will suit you. Perhaps discuss with a specialist at your practice or ask to be referred to a meno clinic?

If you need any further help with this do ask and hope you manage to sort something out so that you feel better.

I agree with Hurdity in that your HRT was probably too low.  I am 52 and perimenopausal and started on 1mg but needed 2mg after 6 months - I have now been taking this for a year.

A hysterectomy would take you straight into surgical menopause so it may be worth seeing your doctor for a further assessment.  Lack of estrogen can cause so many symptoms and I don't think its worth putting up with feeling so bad when the right dose of HRT could put things right!

Oh heck Anjia. Did you tell the GP you had stopped the HRT?

Was it the first time you've had a panic attack?  What did he give you to help with it?

Sorry I've no idea about that, I just read it that he had advised you to up the  HRT but you had stopped it.

Hope the phenergan helps.  You used to be able to buy it over the counter so might be cheaper that way if you pay for your prescriptions.
