Quickest way to make poster please girls
« on: April 13, 2013, 04:39:46 PM »

Have to make a poster for an event.

Could somebody tell me quickest way please?
I thought I could just type my text and choose a pic from google images and copy and paste that but it won't and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  Have tried several times and with different pics.

Thanks in advance.

Penny Farthing

I have just done one, I used Microsoft Word Processor,  went to google images (cats) chose one to copy and then clicked on the small icon on bottom task bar (Its a page with some lines and a pen) clicked on it, it brought up the blank page, I pasted the image and then typed some text below, its now ready to print out.

Hope this helps.

Thank you Silverlady.   :)I am a bit more of a Luddite than you might think!  All I can see on here is Microsoft Word Starter.  I have nothing called Microsoft Word Processor.

From the fact that you have Word starter I am wondering whether you dont have the full Microsoft package.  I downloaded something called LibreOffice3.6 to use instead as it is free.  On that I use LibreOffice Writer instead of Word.  LibreOffice has alternatives for all the windows packages (excel, etc).

If you are on a word doc, you can pick insert from toolbar and insert clipart, there are loads of different categories to choose from and the pics can be re-sized.

You don't say what your timescale is, however, given your lack of experience at this stage ...........
Phone a friend - quick!
Get them to do it and return the favour doing something for them they need, or buy them small thank you / bottle of wine.
Even better if they show you how to do it on your computer  ;)

Then enrol in local class for 'new and terrified' (often in local college or community group) and there will be no stopping you.   :).    (My mum teaches groups of over 50s in the local Community Centre - she is 82 or 83!).

Yay Pennyfarthing!   So pleased you got it done and are pleased with it!

Mum just learned about computers when she was 65.  She has just been asked to organise courses for people referred for computing skill by job centres ( new protocol for managing job seekers).  She was thrilled.

Do you think that you might be interesting in learning more PF?
