Can I please have some thoughts.

I'm off to France for a few days and it looks as if its going to be much hotter than here.
I wondered if it would be too much the title if I wore my leggings with trainers/sandals.

I'm 60, 5'6'' size 14/16 but thin legs.  I really don't want to be a real freak and I don't have money to buy a whole set of summer trousers which I'll prob never wear again.

I was going to wear my jeans but am worried I'll cook,  D*****ed meno hots

Leggings are fine I think as long as you wear them with a longish T shirt or blouse to cover your bum.

Not that I am saying you have a big bum but it just looks better.   

Long as you are comfy and confident that's the main thing.

Hi Blue.
I do have a big bum, but I wear leggings with long shirts/tunic tops and dresses.
Apparently its quite trendy and acceptable to do this.
I layer up if its cold an am able to peel off if I get the "hots".
Leggings are acceptable with sandals, shoes  and trainers according to my neighbours granddaughter. (Aged 22)

Blue, you are a similar weight and size to me. I love leggings but because of thin legs, can sometimes look a bit like Max Wall if I'm not careful!

I think leggings that end just above the ankle, worn with sandals and a tunic top or mini dress will look fantastic. Just make sure the top is not too short as it can look like you are wearing an overly short dress with tights rather than leggings.

If you have very thin legs, I wouldn't wear trainers with leggings as they will look a bit too clumpy. Have you got any ballet pumps or loafers? They might look better.

Above all though, just enjoy the break

Cropped trousers are good too - cooler, and can always be worn around the house.  Leggings would also be fine with long tops.

I love leggings and wear them a lot with dresses and long tunics.  They look fine on any age.  I always buy good quality ones though because they fit better and don't go baggy. My newsest ones are from Phase 8 and are wonderful.

The only times leggings look awful are when overweight women wear them with short T shirts or tops.  Oh, and there's a woman I know who wears court shoes with hers AND a short top and she looks atrocious. 

I usually wear my fave biker boots with my leggings and in the summer fit-flops or some other sandals.

I regularly go to Nice in France as I know someone with a flat there.  I generally wear those knee length crops or cotton trousers (Not sure what they are called but bought 3 pairs in the French shop Cameiu - have a look at the website for ideas) Wear with a nice top and maybe flat shoes in the day. They sell a lot of those and also linen  popular there.  It is both glamorous and casual in Nice and anything goes, so I shouldn't worry to much as everyone has their own style x

I would suggest a sun hat in the summer.

They are an eccentric bunch the French and anything goes.  I remember seeing a macho looking man walking along the street with 2 little pampered poochy dogs in a hand- bag!!

But plain black white  ones etc but plain ones are tickety boo with nice sandells
Long tops to cover bum (ive a biggie too hehehe)
BUT not the ones you see that are delcate little sunflowers on the ankles and they grow in to great big sunflowers heh

Arent leggings just as hot as jeans though?  They are made from man-made stretchy material.  To me that's a recipe for thrush 

 I cant bear anything tight around my waist and leggings have elasticated waist which is a no-no as far as I am concerned so I'm with Pixie on this: baggy-ish cotton crops or cargo  pants.  Nice and loose, cotton mix.  Lovely

Cheers everyone, thanks for your advice. I'm going to take a couple of both to suit all weather.

And guess what I found in the loft, short baggy summer (capri?) trousers. Now what were we saying about hoarding in the other thread   I'd forgoten I had them.

I find jeans can be  very uncomfortable, button always seems to stick into my tum.
I live in leggings at home. Fit great under the boiler suit.

Now there's a thought, baggy, cool and covers all the podgy bits 
Wonder what they'd think of that in France.

Wish it was warm enough here for leggings! Me, I've just bought some roll up trousers, ever so comfy and should be good with sandals when summer comes.
