Hi all

I started getting dizzy spells 3-4 years ago. They seemed to be related to turning/tilting head. My 2 big toes went numb 2 years ago and remain numb to date. Last year my dizzys seemed to be worse and when turning on my left side in bed, the room would spin like I was on a waltzer at the fair ground. A year ago I was prescribed AD'S for depression and developed a head tremor within 2 days and had to stop the AD'S. The head tremor remains to this day especially if I try and tilt my head forward, I actually look like I have parkinsons so its not very nice. Because this has been a slow progression I have just got on with it but I think its time to have it sorted. My eyes seem out of sync, I have to focus on something before I move my body otherwise I stumble and this is something I have just got used to and is how i live daily. I have noticed I use my muscles in my shoulders and my back to move my head into different positions rather than turn my neck.
I've had 2 episodes, once 20 yrs ago and one last year where I had the most excrutiating burning type of pain in my spine between my shoulder blades, the pain was up there with child birth, both times it resolved after about a week. Anyone else have this kind of dizziness?

everyones mum, it sounds like you have BPPV, ask your GP to refer you so you can be tested, I think you will have to go through ENT for this

The Eply Manoeuvre can resolve this if you have no underlying problem, I have this and was referred for a MRI to rule out other things that could be causing it.

The good thing is that BPPV is benign and not life threatening and effects people of all ages, the bad thing is is that it makes you feel awful and anxious when it is active.

have seen my gp today and she is ringing me later this morning with an appointment to see a neurologist

Don't worry about seeing a  neurologist, he will hopefully get to the bottom of your disorder, he will probably order a MRI scan and other tests.

Have you ever had migranes?
Theres a tyoe pf migrain that affects the base of the skull and the symptoms sound simm
Solution medicine could be that or maybe plain meno keep the faith xxxxxxx

been at eye hospital today and got the all clear on eyes. got ct scan in the morning as peech is wonky and lots of migraines xx

Thank you once again Rowan as these are good links for me. Tying to get all scans/tests done prior to seeing neurologists. I've had dizzys on and off for years, sometimes with vertigo but the migraines are a new addition and I have slowed down so much over the last 12 months to combat peri meno symptoms and now this slow pace isnt working. The strangest thing is that I do not feel anxious, I am sleeping lovely and my diet is good. I shall be glad to get the tests out the way so all the nasties can be ruled out xx

CT scan is clear and now just waiting to see neurologist at the end of this month. Have started taking pills from the GP to help with the daily dizziness and will try them for 2 weeks to see if they make a difference. I do feel I have had BPPV for 3 years and maybe now its led to Migraine Associated Vertigo, if thats even possible but thanks Rowan as you have really helped with the links xx

I had three Eplys one after the other on Monday and it seems to have done the trick at last.

The Physio showed my OH how to do the Eply on me just in case it dared to come back.

So pleased to read the Eplys are working for you.
I have now have 14 migraines since march 9th. I know they are migraines as i lose my speech and face goes numb. headache is cured with tablets but numbness ect lasts for between 1 - 3 days. anxiety is now rearing its ugly head in the form of panic. I know how to deal with panic but yesterday i was truly wobbling.  I am keeping busy, sleeping/eating/drinking well but this has rocked me. i now have prescribed migraine tablets and took 1 yesterday and it did work but i took it a bit too late. I cant read too much at the moment as my balance/dizzys are continuous. i feel sort of sea sick. i ask myself ''does anxiety cause dizzys or have the dizzys caused my anxiety ''

Migraines have stopped for past 2 weeks. Had an appointment with nhs neurologist regarding head tremor and he refused to see me as he felt I did not have a neurological problem and needed the dizzy clinic, ENT dept. We paid privately for a consult yesterady with a neurologist and I have Spasmodic Torticollis with is a neurological problem. Shame on the NHS.
My dizzys/verigo are much better since taking bethistine and I shall ask to be referred to ENT dept in due course. For 12 long months I have been told over and over again that my head tremor was due to anxiety and in the bottom of my heart i knew it wasnt. Interstingly this tremor started after taking AD'S sertraline for 3 days. I had not ever experienced head or in fact any other head tremor in my life.
On the positive side I have learnt so much about anxiety over this past year and that will probably pay dividends over time and enable me to help others with anxiety. x

IM so happy you found out what exatly is wrong
I know you feel and rightly so that NH didnt help you but its there and OH be so thnakfull
Thios isnt political so Im saying that asap BUT here in Ozz its even worse
If you dont have Private medicine as well as paying a Medicare Levy(national health insurance) you pay a higher Levy
Say you pay $30 week towards medicare out of your pay nothings free its just subsidised( except hospital treatment)
YOu dont have Private medicine as well then Federal Tax dept will take at least another $30 making $60 out of wage
Though not for childbirth the gap between what your medicare pays and what you have to pay could be 1000pounds
Thats in a Public hospital in a public ward imagine 650pounds YOU have to pay for giving birth mind probably not be as many people Thats the problem UK has too many people too few paying taxes NH wasnt meant to service 62million
It wasnt meant to have all the best gadgets in the world pay for the training of scientists it was supposed to be looking afer the sick Lifespan 60 odd for reg poeple 1948 Think back to childhood how many old people were around?
I went to a GP last week with what I knew was Tendonitis But probably De Quverin clicky thumb sounds daft
Pain is ex and cant bend my thumb if I do pain pain pain and its like a trigger $65 later 30 pounds paid up front to GP
Take 2 panadols rest p off now its worse so today went to a hand Doctor took one look said you have Trigger finger so trreatment starts tomorrow NOT on Medicare Medicarewont pay so its Private I have private but it will still cost me
But as youve learnt health is everythng so it cost money so what no holiday if yur well its worth it and more
