We also watched Simon Reeve last night ,and like you Cubagirl we have been there....Both times on a cruise, first time I went was with my friend . The boat docked at Santiago , and we went on one of those bikes where the guy peddles and we were sitting at the back. It was very interesting.....all the old cars and the very up to date hospital. But sad to see the way they treat the poor horses :( ....It was an experience I will NEVER forgot because me and my friend where threatened by the bike owner, in a dark alley. ( too long a story to go into) .....but very very scary...
The second visit was wonderful and me and DH saw many wonderful sights.....a very interesting country......

Ellie it is a very interesting country.  Can't help but feel that a lot of their culture may disappear.  We noticed a big difference between our 1st and 3rd visits.  No camel buses in Havana, though I'm sure the locals were quite relieved to get something more modern.  A lot of the buildings had been renovated.  Hubby and I wondered how much those who have started new businesses are paying to the state.

Last Tango in Halifax was good last night.

I am going to watch Fat Hospital (or some such name) tonight.  I think it's on at 8 pm.
I was reading about it and the doctor said there is no medical reason why people on that ward are fat it's purely because they eat more than calories they burn off.

My hubby was working for a young woman of about 30 today.  He said she was so fat she has to throw herself from side to side to get moving. She was telling him about her father who has type 2 diabetes and is terribly overweight. She then said she can't lose weight and hubby told her we both have (since he was diagnosed with T2 Diabetes) and suggested Slimming World.  She said "I can't, I just love my food too much."   You can't help some people can you?

I watched this programme last night, i couldn't believe the guy that was 47 stone's attitude! When the doctor told him it was costing £250 a day to keep him in the hospital he said afterwards "why did he have to tell me that, its not my problem, its the NHS's!!!  >:(  This was after they found him cheating and buying sweets and chocolate from the trolley!! Like you say, pennyfarthing, there's no helping some people!

I watched it, maybe I'm just really open minded though both myself and partner wondered about the partner of the american woman who wanted to be a 6 year old.....he was very controlling.

I just watched The Making of a Lady and that was a pleasant surprise.  Much better than other period dramas I've seen lately.

The TV was quite good on xmas day.  Enjoyed Miranda and Call the Midwife.  Preferred the Snowman to the Snowman and his dog (the new version).  When it showed the snow dog, snowman and boy flying over London, my sister was disappointed that they didn't show the Olympic Stadium - as she was a volunteer last year!!
We also watched repeats of The Vicar of Dibley, which was very funny. ;D
