My Grandpa had an allotment so we had plenty of fresh veg when young. Not the same out the supermarket or frozen. Lucky you. I'll be round soon, save me some!

Anne beat me to it with the mash joke Margarett! I am making mash tonight too. Do you put lashings of real butter in as I do? I love it like that!
We have a small raised bed in the garden and I have grown Beans and spring onions, chard and a couple of herbs but that's it. My tomatoes disappointed me again this year so I won't bother with them now!
Sorry off the subject!
Courgettes sound nice- I may grow those. My father in law cooks the flowers in batter!

My tomatoes are rubbish this year too. I've never had such a bad year with them. Everything else is very late. We like growing yellow courgettes, they have a better flavour. I don't put lashings of butter in the mash as I'm trying to lose weight.  I just use semi-skimmed milk in mine.

Love mash. OH makes the best mash in our house. No lumps  ;) we use Lurpak Light so that goes in it.

Freshly pulled red beet and potatoes from the garden: sliced thinly and fried like chips: plus green beans cooked gently and salted, drained with butter added  :-*

Well tonight I am making pasta with mushrooms, bacon & anhovies.  Yes I know that sounds weird, but it's very very tasty.  Only add a couple of anchovies and it lifts the flavour.

Yes I know, anchovies  :o  my reaction was the same when I saw it in a recipe. I don't normally like them myself.  I've used anchovy paste in a sauce once too when making vol au vents.  Again it added some much needed flavour.  Go on give it a try, you know you want to.   ;D

I can spot an anchovie at a hundred paces and avoid them like the plague.
Each to their own.
Relying on OH going to supermarket for something for dinner. HELP! Probably come back with an anchovie thing.
Bearing in mind this is the man that served me steak pie and salad with the gravy artistically drizzled over the lettuce. God help me!
