clothes for my short son!
« on: July 30, 2012, 08:55:10 PM »

Hi, long time no write! anyway, I am having problems finding trendy clothes for my 24 year old son who has Downs Syndrome, he likes to look trendy but his waistline is expanding slightly, he no longer fits into teen clothes and is too short for regular blokes trousers! He is 5 foot 2 inches, waist 34 and inside leg about 28 inches. We dont want to resign him into jog bottoms but are struggling. does anyone have any suggestions/ ideas. :great:
Many thanks, Katex

My OH is a 29 inside leg. M & S and BHS do this length. Also Cotton Traders and they  have nice chinos, jeans and combats etc.

Got to tell you ladies- I AM the worst sewer ever, remember years ago my OH bought a pair of cream trousers. 'I'll hem them' I said, So I did....... twice on the same leg!  Oh lordy, lordy, I laughed and am still laughing about it now.

husband took son shopping..... I have now hemmed 4 pairs of trousers. Grrrrrr. (maybe theres some opportunity out there for a clothing manufacturer to make short and very trendy clothes for people like my son?) who is chuffed by the way, even with the wobbly hemming. Kx

Could you not approach a local seamstress ........ with the suggestion.  Or maybe there is an opportunity within the Downs Syndrome Association to set up local schemes?

Glad he's chuffed, new clothes please most of us even men  ::)

I was talking to a wild animal keeper recently and apparently primates can be affected by Downs.  He is nursing a red panda with the syndrome and has another animal with 'dwarfism'.  I have often wondered if these human conditions 'cross' into the wild animals.
