Lovely and mild this morning, a bit breezy but will take it for a long weekend here. There is a cold front on the way this afternoon, may get a thunderstorm.

Do U do the turkey with trimmings ........ people are wanting smaller birds this year due to the Rule of 6.  Apparently.  However, if necessary buy a large one and get the butcher to cut it in half and then take the wings/legs off.  Cook what is necessary, freeze the rest.  Will do then until Easter  ;D

Yup, there is a turkey (7-9kg size) defrosting in my fridge right now. The plan is to have Thanksgiving dinner on Monday with hubby and 2 of our 3 kids. My other son will be with us on Zoom, or something like that and later will drop off a plate of food for my dad.

Sounds good C.C. - what don't you like in the way of veggies?

It's been bright most of today. Calm.  Chilly.  Need to fish out a thicker jumper for gardening in !

At Thanksgiving I do brussel sprouts with bacon, and a baked rutabaga mash casserole my mom always made and my dad requests every year.  I like pretty much all veggies  :)

rutabaga ? swede or turnip ?   In England/Wales we have swede which in Scotland they call turnip  ::) whereas turnip is a small white round root veg..

It's round and has a waxy coating on the outside (for a purpose) and it's labelled rutabaga in the store. My mom always called them turnip, but I don't think she knew the difference.lol

Too hoots- White or dark meat? ;D

I guess it can also be called a swede, I've never heard that term from here lol.  Turnips are white when they're cooked but rutabagas cook up pale yellow, that's what I cook.

Two hoots- what, no mashed potatoes and gravy? ;D
