Went to London yesterday for the day and nearly died in the heat. We West Country folk aren't used to that! Was sitting on South Bank terrace drinking Pimms and Prosecco overlooking the river in the blazing sunshine, and could see the huge storm. Half the sky over London was black and away to the North and East - the rest was sunshine and clear like a dividing line or with very high wispy clouds. I presume the urban heat island effect prevented the storm breaking over London itself? I hear it's been bad - much like we had in the W Country on Tuesday. Here in the SW today it's been intermittently sunny/cloudy, but no rain and very very windy. Much cooler than of late too - although we haven't had temps in the 30's tho'
