up to 32 in the flat now. Just gave a very very very busy local air con guy a call and left a message. We think spending money on reversible air con would be wonderful. Pity we didn't do it last summer when it first occurred that 2 weeks or more of the summer are unbearable up here!
Fans are useless.

Going down to the shade in the garden. Air quality is terrible today in London.

Two things I think UK houses should have, as our weather warms up - (1) air conditioning and (2) window shutters.  Grin-and-bear-it stiff upper lips won't do.   They've woken up to these things abroad and it's time we did.

I really think it would be a waste of money for us. We count our summer in days rather than weeks   ::)

I'm thinking of more insulation for the winter to be honest.

Air con seems like a good idea when weather is like this, but as HB says not many really hot days up here. Not worth the money. I remember long scorching summers in the 70s, but not nowadays. Showing my age again.  ;D

Agree, reversible air con would mean heat in winter and cool in summer. London is unbearable when it's this humid.

Keeping windows closed unless it's really windy out there is the way to go.  Keeps the bugs/flies/moths out as well as the intense heat.  Shutters in pale blue anyone?

I'm going out later with DH  :-\

Great light show from about 2am then came the downdraught! Wow trees were horizontal then  30 minutes of thunder. The rain was phenomenal!
