I'm cold.  Adding more layers as the day goes on.  Fire lit.  Rads will go on soon so that the bathroom heats up.

Ours have been on for a couple of hours each day during the past month........

The boiler went wrong a few weeks ago - after middle of Oct. so we have been using the coal fire.  Fixed last Tuesday.  We put the fire on about 3.30 then the boiler around 7.00 to heat the bathroom/water for a bath.  Then we can turn off the boiler - it's 70F in here now PHEW!

OH has reported ominous noises from the boiler - luckily it's still working.
It'll wait until the roads get icy before it conks out fully.
That's what happened last time.

Boilers never seem to pack in during the summer, do they? They wait until its brass monkeys & think, nope not switching on today. Result, you waken to freezing rooms & ice cold water.  Wasn't that how it used to be when we were little? Certainly was in my house. Coal fires, which took until the afternoon to heat a room. Immersion for hot water, but only once a day. We're spoiled these days.

Wild windy and horrible. The sea is rough today with huge waves.


You are right we are spoiled these days. We used to waken up to frosty windows in our first flat.....on the inside  ;D

I love wild seas! I went to the sea yesterday (20 mins from here) and it was flat calm - what a contrast it would be today!

Wet & wild today.

First house we lived in here, was a tied house, due to hubby's job. We had inch thick ice at the bottom of the  windows. We ran a calor gas heater in hallway  & an electric bar radiator in the living room. Never been so cold. Daughter was barely a year old & was always I'll in that house. Two years later we bought our own place with central heating. Bliss!

Wet & windy at the coast - Mostly just wet here. Mind you the wind is getting a bit more active.

I remember scraping through the ice to see what the weather had done in the night  ::) - each room had a fireplace but upstairs were only lit if someone was very very ill.  Dad got up first, lit the fires so that it was warm for Mum to come down to. 

Sharp frost - then it clouded over  ::)
