Extreme, torrential rain this morning at 4am.
OH went out to check gutters were coping, they weren't.
Rain was approaching back door,  he came in for wellies and waterproofs, by the time he went out again the water was at the back door lapping at the door jam.

He went onto flat roof cleared some rubbish from gutters then came down to clear grids.
Eventually all sorted but water was very closed to getting in the house.

Sunny, dry and still now.

Heavy rain overnight - the garden needed it. Dry and sunny now.

Getting pretty wild out there & to get worse overnight into tomorrow. I've been out securing stuff in the hope they won't blow away. First October storm. Yippee! Not!

Heavy rain on Sunday morning.  Bright sunshine by mid-afternoon and this continued today although the air is very cold.

Sneaky drizzle all day, wasn't forecast, didn't help much in getting washing dry
Strong winds forecast for early tomorrow morning.

Strong winds and torrential rain last night, Brought my lovely sunflowers crashing down, destroying everything that was under where they fell.  >:( Ripped the (locked) lid off the oil tank. Will check with my husband when he gets back later but I think the fact that it is a 'double skinned' tank at least means no rain will have got into the oil.

I do love autumn really but wish the storms weren't quite so violent!

Skye Bridge closed again  :( .......... here it's raining hard, probably been raining all night .......... good for the garden  ;)

Crikey! the wind can't get to our oil tank lid.  Maybe it was thieves taking advantage of the weather? ...........  double skinned means that the outer covering is 'double' to avoid 'accidents' i.e. piercing through to allow oil to leak .......... but the inlet is quite narrow so hopefully not too much rain will have got in.  You'll see if you look - I think oil is lighter than water so you may find your boiler will protest as it will be drawing water which will have sunk to the bottom of the tank    .........   best not switch on until you've spoken to your service person. (pour oil on troubled waters ;-) ).

High wind and rain, back garden wrecked, even heavy plant pots blown over.

Having said that had a great sleep ( slept for ten hours :o) it was cold last night and I changed my summer duvet to the winter one, and felt so cosy.

I like Summer but love Autumn and winter now.
